I think it's a good idea for Tentacl.

Gaia is PG13, and full of teens and kids that lie about being thirteen to make an account.
I see this as a feature thats going to be encouraging to sex roleplaying.
"Hey we are Gaia married, lets go to our house in towns and cyber cuz that is what you do when you're married!"
Of course there will be some mature people that wont do stupid stuff like that but...
I fear the the majority will use it as an excuse to cyber...

Besides Gaia doesn't keep up with it's updates, they create a new feature then leave it to rot.
The last thing we need is another useless feature taking up room on the servers.

I'm going to need you to explain this. Having an actual marriage system won't stop the people who want to do it, and it won't encourage those who don't. I just don't understand how it would suddenly pull to the "stop" people put on cybering here.

Back when I was new I had a male avatar for a long time so my best friend and I's characters got married lol . We held an event in Towns and an afterparty in my house, and we made a thread for it to hold some artwork we had done and our "vows" and etc since it would have been too long to type out in the Towns chat xD. We even "hired" someone to be a priest for it, and we told our online friends two weeks ahead of time so they'd know when to log in. It was pretty fun! We're still best friends and though she's not on Gaia anymore and I now have a female avatar, I always wear my Silver Promise Ring she bought me for the event because of it. We're just lesbian lovers now I guess emotion_dowant . I'm going to see if I can go find the old thread for it, that would be cool. I'm married irl now and I told my husband about it and he thinks it's rather funny.

Do I think Gaia should implement some sort of feature for it? Probably not, it would just be something else they'd make a GCash only feature most likely, and as someone else mentioned, Gaia is at least -trying- on a very minimal effort to stay pg-13 and marriage is an adult thing, so it would probably not be in good taste. Let people choose to do an event if they want, but don't create something specifically for it.

I dunno marriage is just an adult type thing for one, I'm not seeing how an adult type thing has a place here on PG13 Gaia.
Then again we have ball gags, sex props, and sexy outfits so idk, I guess it's that gray area.
That and even though we are in 2014 there is still a big push on the perks of good successful marriage, or what you do after marriage in general and that is sex.
It's in the media, I see it on TV a lot.
Marriage to a lot of people means guilt free unstigmatized sex.
I'm afraid people might take that as a get out of bans free card to cyber.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of drama that would come from allowing people to get married on this site. There's nothing that "marriage" can even offer on gaia that doesn't violate the TOS anyway. If you feel that strongly about your partner, you can incorporate them into your profile, your signature, get some art together, have matching usernames, etcetcetc and even that can cause the s**t to go down. I can't imagine an actual system being anything other than a literal nightmare.

Personally, I don't care for it. I suppose I should be interested, as I'm not allowed to marry my life partner IRL, and a Gaian marriage system could be a nice display of affection, but I'm not. I don't feel the need to validate my partnership via online pretense.

That's not to say I disapprove of it. I think quite a few people would be happy with the marriage system they proposed. I've known friends to hold weddings in Towns with their loved ones or just to play around. I think a lot of people will find it very sweet and it'd be a good opportunity for people to celebrate their love with their online friends, and/or just much about and have fun with an online party, meeting new people and learning new things about their friends.

I don't see the harm, but I also don't see the point. Maybe if there was a non-abandoned battle system and there were benefits to marriage, like in MapleStory and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Also, knowing Gaia, it would either cost real cash to marry and divorce or shoehorn some sort of GC feature. Even if they did make it free, I'd rather they improve and keep free other features of the site and not waste it on a marriage system.

I think any kind of gaia sponsored marriage system would be a bad idea but I don't see why users can't rp marriges. They could buy the appropriate attire ask someone to play the priest/wedding party and send out invitations and have a thread dedicated to it. As far as sharing anything account wise as far as houses that should be left between the users I recommend extreme caution of course but picking one house to be the couples "home" wouldn't be too hard and the other house could be used as a vacation home.

friends of mine have Gaia-married so they would STOP getting harassed for cybersex, and they're not even in serious relationships with each other rofl if anything cybering will go down.

I don't see the point. If there would be a a system to link up inventories or something like that, why call it marriage? Maybe people just, you know, have friends and want to share. There are plenty of other ways to advertise being in a relationship: Your profile, your post style, signature, etc.

My husband plays on here. I think just the fact that I can post it in my siggy if I want to is good enough for me. And we wear rings. Perhaps if they had more wedding ring items (maybe a little gold band with a diamond on it?) I would be even more satisfied. Although perhaps they already have that item and I don't know about it.
