Lady Mirror
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

"Ah, no. I much prefer these clothes. I've worn them for a long time, and they don't bother me much," Mirror said simply. She smiled, though she was slightly offended by the men's words. Even dressed as she was, she expected to be treated like a lady. Perhaps she was silly for thinking so. Her crimson eyes darted around the bar, taking in every detail without stopping.

...And may all your Christmases be white

The bar was modern and well made, with a glossy counter, neatly stacked drinks on the shelves behind it, and tables with nice cushioned seats. There were a couple of customers sitting and drink at the bar, but this was only a sample of the real fun that went on behind the more private doors. That is where the bulk of the customers were.

The guards looked at one another, then looked back to the woman.

"Uh...listen, ma'am. Not to offend you, but our establishment requires a standard dress code. If you like, we will be happy to lend you some clean clothes and a place to freshen up."

"Ah, I see. I believe I will take my leave, then. I prefer these clothes, as they fit me well and they have some sentimental value to me. As for shoes, I find it much more comfortable to go without," And with those words, Mirror turned and headed for the door.

The guards didn't like turning away customers, but this was one of those issues that they had to keep with in favor of the bar's standards.

"We're sorry," he said again to her.

Cale ran her eye appreciatively over the spread on thethe table before her. She tried not to notice if others were looking at her the same way. She did look twice at the larger man seated so comfortably at the end of the table but... if nobody else was going to take issue with him, than she sure wouldn't. She regarded the waiter with a smile.

"I'm sure you can help me. I'm looking to get drinks for my date and I to start the evening with. Do you have any suggestions?"

Onyx chuckled "I've been around the world, yes."
Taking another drag of her kiseru she ran the mouth piece across her bottom lip in deep thought. She tapped it, took another drag and watched him pour the drinks. Ah there it was, the real reason. It was more than just company. He was curious. Couldn't blame him. It was his job.

"A fair point though we are not in China or Japan. I have nothing personally against the Chinese and I have zero reason to feel threatened. Does this mean that what I heard is true? That this place is run by the Triads?"

If he could ask her questions regarding race then she could ask questions regarding business.

It all happened fairly quickly, Jay's blurry vision was obscured for a moment as two men lifted her from the ground, a releaved smile forming on split lips as Charlene came to her rescue. Having ordered the guards to take her to where she had orginally wanted to go, and a gaian medic would be of better use than her first plan...which was to stich herself up. However the brawler was in a worse condition than she first thought, being barely able to walk with the guards.

Upon reaching the back room Jay groaned between gritted teeth as the guards released her onto a couch. It had been such a long day and it was finally catching up to her, leaving the qoman to wonder if this was why she was tired...or if it was the blood loss. Either way her head hung low with her eyes half closed, pure mental will keeping her from passing out then and there.

"Th-..thank you. I am sorry to be a bother, I kind of messed up. "

Jay tried to laugh at this, since it would lighten the mood, sadly however her attempt at doing so only resulted in a rather painful cough.

"Kind of funny how life works right... I was training for a while, then needed money, so ended up accepting a job."

Pausing to take a few deep breaths and forcing her head up so she could try focus the blurred vision on Charlene, aware of the guards presence she assumed they might be interested in hearing this. Either way it was going to come out now while it was still fresh in her mind.
Licking her lips to sooth the sting of where they had been split before continuing, the blood tasting all too familiar on her tongue.

"I was paid a considerable amount to find and 'talk' to a rather influential man, that was easy, he was weak and pathetic so agreed to do as instructed or face a horrible death. But...when I left something was wrong...there was no one else around in the hotel, like not just because it was late...but empty empty."

Despite not being able to see clearly, Jay's eyes would cloud over as she look at Charlene.

"It didn't take long for them to find me, and I was ready...but they had the numbers. I don't know how long I faught them, but no matter how many I seemed to break there was another to take his place. I got lucky and managed to fall back through a window...after one of the bastards kicked me in the face."

As she said this her left hand would rise to lightly run her fingers over the bruised nose and broken lips, no doubt the full extent of the damage would be visible by morning.

"It was a long drop, but I managed to land on my feet. So I went back to the client...and he told me that he wasn't the only one interestes in this particular man...and that he is probably dead now. He told me to get lost after realising how bad things had gone. He also cancelled the transaction even though I ******** did my job. Not my fault other people killed his target."

Yep that would be about right, typical Jay was more pissed off about the money being taken rather than her injuries.

[Boat Party]

"We have a few choices. Will you like some Gouqi jiu? It's a good balance between alcohol and light. If you're not looking to get drunk tonight, it is the way to go."

"Bullshit."

Someone stepped up to her left. He was a short chinese guy with styled short hair due to usage of some styling product, and wore a blue suit, open coat to a white yellow dress shirt underneath. He snapped his fingers.

"Give me straight pinyin. I'll take your hardest drink."

The waiter nodded, going ahead to prepare both of their orders.

"If you're going to take advantage of free booze, miss, take my advice. Get as much as the expensive stuff that you can."

[Lounge - Onyx]

Petre chuckled as he picked up his glass and took a drink from it. He smiled toward her as he kept the glass up to his lips, his eyes looked lewdly at her from across the table.

"So, you know about us, huh. Not many people know that. And usually those who do likely live in the same world as we do."

He drank down the rest of the drink, placing it back onto the table as he released a sigh from his lips.

"So let me ask you this, madam. Who are you and where do you come from?"

[Dressing Room - Jay]

Charlene could not believe what she was hearing. She was moreso surprised by this girl speaking such a situation rather than the details itself. She shook her head and closed her eyes as she stood to her feet after crouching down next to her.

"I have no idea why you were doing all that, Jay, but we have someone coming to treat you as we speak. Just rest there for now. You're safe here with us again."

"Do you need us to bring anything," asked one of the guards.

"Water and some towels to clean up her wounds, at least till the doctor gets here."

They nodded, turning around and exiting the room.

Cale had to smile at the interjection of the somewhat short man that had come up to the table. She would normally be quite inclined to agree with his sentiment... however, she did intend to be more cautious than usual tonight. This boat party, with all these important people around, was not the place to get tanked and devolve into a drunken, boisterous state. Especially since it wouldn't just be her reputation on the line, but Ko's as well.

Taking a moment to think on it, she considered what Ko would want. She knew quite well that the man was more than capable of holding his alcohol, she'd seen him down enough of it in a day without even seeming to be phased.

"I'm not exactly looking for your hardest drink - the night is just beginning after all." She reasoned with a bit of a chuckle. "But I'd like something of fine quality to start the evening with."

She could always come back to avail herself of more free booze later, in any case. If Ko didn't like what was picked out on their behalf, they could simply get something else. Cale for one was simply happy to try something new.

Onyx grabbed her drink casually and brought it to her lips. She let it fill her mouth before swallowing. Now he had asked the high gain question. At first she thought about just lying but how believable would it all be? He knew there was something more to her from the start.

"you mistake me. I heard a rumor while in the black market that this place was a place I could go for safety. You simply confirmed it."

Oops. She just let it slip that she has business with the black market. No good lady would have such relations. Onyx caught the slip but it had been too late. She smiled and laughed.

"uh...s**t. Alright, alright so...ima ...tomb raider." aka a ******** pirate and a thief. She took another drag of her kiseru. I come from the outlands. Lands distant to gaia. Northern hemisphere...not too far off from England or the Caribbean." that area was vast. She wasn't going to tell him exactly where.

Onyx kept her mouth shut about being a forced assassin. Maybe they'd find out the hard way one day but not this day. Instead, as to not make it seem like she was holding something back, she sighed and pretended to 'drop the other shoe'
"being such...the things I have hunted, collected, found, tracked and sold is too great to list. It leads me to sell to some high profile clients all the way to the black market."

She made it seem like she had been down there to sell and not buy. I mean, she did buy a few things but she had also been on the run too. From who exactly...not even she knew. It had been an ambush of sorts. It had happened in a hotel in Durems market district.

"Are you satisfied with me?" her voice went back to being coy.

"I needed money..." She would say aoftly in a half heartes attempt to justify her actiona. It wasn't like she was incapable of handling herself, but this time it was more or less an ambush. Besides if she wanted to go into more detail it would do nothing to change what had happened. Jay had no idea who the shady men were, they wore masks and black clothes...kind of a bad joke really.

The whole rambling was a way to comfort herself more than anything else, she wanted to let Charlene know everything, why her Jay wasn't entirely sure. Something along the lines of trusting this woman, since it was her who had saved Jay the last time she had gotten into trouble. Except this time she had no reason to think she had pissed of anyone..

"I can get medical help elsewhere...just patch me up for now. I am really sorry."

"Whatever you say," the short man said to her.

Receiving his drink, he took it in hand, taking a sip of it, then leaning his head back as a "Woooo" left his mouth.

"Now that's the way I like it!"

Cale soon received her two glasses filled with light purple wine. The short man turned to Cale.

"So tell me, who you came here with? Someone must have been pretty lucky to pick you up."

He didn't seem ashamed to speak to her like that. Women was a daily pleasure to a man like him. If one turned him down, he had many more that would be happy to tailor to his needs. It made him spoiled and often smug.

-------------------------------------

[Onyx]

He picked up the bottle, pouring himself another fill into the glass as she spoke her story. His eyes rose when he saw her acknowledge her slip. He only smirked, finishing with the pour then handing it toward Onyx to allow her to refill her glass.

"Now the truth comes out. You know, your story is not uncommon. Women have fled to our establishment in the past, hoping for security from the dangers of the world. And this city. In exchange, we employ them to our establishment. As an employee of Yuen Enterprises, they are considered our property, and thus, they are essentially part of the Triads. Anyone who chooses to mess with them messes with us. And we can be pretty convincing when we have to. I do not care who you are and what you have done. What I do care for is your purpose here. Safety does not come cheap, mademoiselle. If you are looking for a safehouse, then I will assume you will be happy to..."

He spun his hand along his wrist as it kept hold of his cigarette, trying to capture the words to say to her next.

"How do you say...work for us?"

----------------------------

[Jay]

Charlene was confused by her reason. She worked here at Yuen. How much more money did she need that she was taking on another job outside this one? She shook her head, bringing her hand to the side of her head before the door opened up. A middle aged woman stepped through. She was a bit pudgy and wore a grey suit. She had glasses on her face; her hair was wrapped in a bun on top of her head, colored in black and white hairs. She carried a case in her right hand, walking over to Jay and pulling a chair up to the side before sitting down next to her.

The medic looked over Jay for a moment as Charlene stepped away. She examined the girl from head to toe with her eyes only, then a sigh escaped her lips. Her voice followed, which was a bit high and had the Chinese dialect to it.

"Hello. My name is Xialoli Wu, the business medic."

She turned her head to the guards.

"You all can leave now. I have work to do here. Make sure no one comes in here."

The men turned, making their exit for the woman, closing the door to leave only Charlene, Jay, and her inside.

"I am going to have to ask you to remove your clothes. We will need to do a full examination of your injuries. While you are at it, you can tell me why you look like you got in a fight with a pack of dogs."

Onyx took the bottle from him and refilled her glass with just grey goose. She set it down. All he knew was what she told him. His comment was simply about her running here to escape the eyes of those terrestrial men back in Durems Market District. She chuckled and slammed back her drink. Onyx had only 3 glasses out of the bottle that she had ordered all to herself. Petre had a few too which meant that oni was only going to pay for what she drank. Retrieving her wallet she pulled out a fifty and put it down on the table before Petre.
"I don't work FOR anyone, only with. Maybe. You better care who I am and what I've done for it very well maybe be the reason you could have a lot of unwanted attention. I don't need the protection of the triads. Thank you anways for the offer but I am no one's property. If you want to own something buy a dog. I had been looking for a few hours. Nothing more. And I have paid for those hours very well. A few thou in the casino and a hundred upon entering the door. I have just paid for what I have drank. I get it...a Japanese woman cannot be trusted here. So try to control her yeah? Not my kind of flavor. Petre...perhaps if ever we meet again you'll think higher of me...and I you. Assumption will only get those who have a lot of money to spend to spend it else where" she said putting out her kiseru. She bent sideways a little to retrieve her jacket.

Cale watched with a slightly amused smile as the man clearly enjoyed his expensive booze. She had to take a step back so as to not have to look down from her own somewhat impressive height in order to converse with him comfortably.

She chuckled when he said her date must be lucky. She wouldn't quite call it that - in fact, Cale tended to make life hell for the people that she liked the most. It wasn't intentional, but it seemed to happen anyway. At least it was an indication that she'd found a good catch, if someone would put up with her bullshit and still want to keep her around.

"I'm here tonight with Ko. Ko Yuen."

She told the man, finding no harm in it. Holding a wine glass in each hand, she watched curiously to see his reaction.

[Onyx]

She was a feisty one. Petre took a drink from his glass as she scolded him and went for her jacket. He just sat there with little reaction to her words. He sat like a man who knew better.

"I do not think you understand my words, so I will clarify them for you again." He looked at her with his eyes being a lot more narrow than before, displaying a hidden form of seriousness within them. He tapped some of the ash into the tray on the table before he spoke again.

"I do not doubt that you are here for peaceful reasons. Being Japanese is also something we do not hold against you. We get Japanese customers now and again. But there is something you must realize, madam, before you decide to leave this room."

He settled back into the couch, placing an arm over the top of it.

"Normally, I would have let you leave. But after telling me who you are, I can't just let you get up and walk out of here. Let me ask you something. You say that you are a seller on the black market, right? It is a rather bold thing for you to reveal here, especially in the business of the Renshu. You see, you are not the only one who operates in that line of work. And with you present, it makes you look like a competitor to us. Do you see where I am getting at so far?"

-------------------------------------------------

[Boat Party]

"Ko Yuen, huh? Ha, well, I guess it makes sense for a man like him to get a broad like yourself."

She was bigger than your normal woman. Something he wasn't use to seeing in his line of work. Chinese girls tended to be on the small size in many departments. You did get your lucky ones now and again, especially ones who augmented their busts with silicon. But to see a natural was a good sight to him. He smiled smugly, taking another drink of his glass.

Then muttering began to move from the crowd. One man shouted to everyone.

"Can I have your attention, please. Mister Tan Fa Rong has arrived."

Everyone began speaking up, taking their attention away from their conversations and looking toward the ramp, awaiting his arrival. Ko looked, as well, pulling on his collar as he stepped toward the area where other higher ups were going, as they had to be the ones to properly meet the head formally. The fat guy who was feeding his face got up quickly, using a napkin to wipe his face then moved himself through the crowd to go join the other heads of Renshu. Cale would see up to twelve people, including, Ko, form a line on each side. Ten of them were men, and two were female. One female in the old age, and another who looked around Cale's age, her hair long and white. And then there was a man among them that didn't look quite so Chinese. He looked mixed. His eyes held a sort of slyness to them that asians normally did not have. His black hair was worn on his head styled back, and yet, it was wholly different from the norm in that it sat atop his head almost perfectly. It was no one other than the man Shen told Cale about. Enlai, a man who had a face that was handsome, and yet...somewhat untrusting to those with enough wisdom. Guards stepped up, walking past the created corridor of leaders before the man himself made his appearance.

He stood at 6' 3". In addition to the black suit he wore absent of a tie, he wore another suit coat over his shoulders as if it was a cape. A cane set in his left hand, placed against the ground as he stepped up the ramp and onto the deck of the boat. Hair of pepper and salt color flushed his head with only little balding occurring just past the forehead crest, the style more wavy and upwards than the typical Chinese straight strands of hair. Walking behind him came another man. A lot shorter and younger with round glasses and a schoolboy haircut. The leaders bowed their heads respectively as the man walked forward, then met him with handshakes from each of them. The party began to loosen up as the music slowly came back on, this time being a slow Chinese melody with ukele, piano, and a woman singing in Chinese over at the stage.

The short guy standing next to Cale chuckled. "It's not everyday I get to see the head man himself. But hell am I going to try to talk with him. This night is going to be nothing but a** kissing to him."
