They just really really really freak me out. And yet I watched Jaws just fine...(that shark looked fake though)

I'm also afraid of open water, not sure if that's because I'm afraid of sharks though.

I'd say most likely, and the thought of the unknown, which usually takes a toll on a lot of peoples state of mind.

It's all psychological.

Silence and total darkness. Although that is completely unreasonable considering sound cannot exist without silence, and light cannot exist without darkness...

Bahaha, it's quite funny really, I, myself, find I am nearly catatonic in bright light and loud areas. I thrive in dim light, with exceptions, like when I'm trying to read, and with complete silence.
