I saw a commercial the other day about a new cd that is coming out with a much of femal pop-artists. (Pop - popular for those who don't know) I was disgusted that ALL the women were mostly naked skanks! 75% of their breasts are showing, no bras, or in just a bra and underwear... *cough* Britney Spears *cough* It's disgusting, degrating, and pathetic.
If we want to make a point, we shouldn't have to be borderlining porn. Of course, it isn't all the musician's fault, it's also the audience's fault. They want this crap. There are REAL musicians that are working their ASSES off day and night and must take a second job just to pay the bills all because they are doing what they love and choose not to throw away their dignity at the same time.
I shouldn't have to scream, strip, dress and act like a total slut to catch your attention. I shouldn't have to do all that to make my point. But they fell to that, and it's a major insult to all to even enjoy it.

You have to understand that I am against the fact that SEX SELLS. I said that they DRESS like skanks. Also, I AM a musician. I am working my a** off, my parents who are musicians are working their asses off day and night, and I see a bunch of phonies who need the help of today's technology to sing at a concert, or just making the song in the studio. It's a major rip off. They fight for female freedom from the men, and yet they become their little sex figures so they can make money.
I am all for individuality, but if this was a style, there would be ALOT more drop outs and unwanted children then what we have now. People follow the TV, they don't consider what's off of it. I know that some people do, but the majority doesn't. So, these people could be as nice and decent off the screen, but people wouldn't notice. They have an image that is going to be hard to get rid of.
These people aren't musicians. They're blow up porno dolls lip synching to songs written by other people.
I saw a thing the other day where that sister of Jessica Simpson (i think) was singing a song live, and I guess she was so dumb, she didn't even know the words of her own song, so she was supposed to lip-synch, but the lip synch messed up for some reason, and she was sitting there looking like an idiot on stage while the (real) musicians were playing in the background. Later, she blamed the band, saying that they "played the wrong song."
SHE ONLY HAD ONE POPULAR SONG.
Now, one of my good friends is a musician. She's been playing the violin since she was five or so and is currently active in many different symphony projects. She's played all over the country and is going to be soloing at the next big college performance. I was in a chamber choir and we were invited to sing 8-part jazz harmony in Carnagie Hall.
That's REAL musicianship. Not this "show some more T&A and pretend to sing" s**t.
