Female Musicians = Skanks!

I saw a commercial the other day about a new cd that is coming out with a much of femal pop-artists. (Pop - popular for those who don't know) I was disgusted that ALL the women were mostly naked skanks! 75% of their breasts are showing, no bras, or in just a bra and underwear... *cough* Britney Spears *cough* It's disgusting, degrating, and pathetic.

If we want to make a point, we shouldn't have to be borderlining porn. Of course, it isn't all the musician's fault, it's also the audience's fault. They want this crap. There are REAL musicians that are working their ASSES off day and night and must take a second job just to pay the bills all because they are doing what they love and choose not to throw away their dignity at the same time.

I shouldn't have to scream, strip, dress and act like a total slut to catch your attention. I shouldn't have to do all that to make my point. But they fell to that, and it's a major insult to all to even enjoy it.

You have to understand that I am against the fact that SEX SELLS. I said that they DRESS like skanks. Also, I AM a musician. I am working my a** off, my parents who are musicians are working their asses off day and night, and I see a bunch of phonies who need the help of today's technology to sing at a concert, or just making the song in the studio. It's a major rip off. They fight for female freedom from the men, and yet they become their little sex figures so they can make money.

I am all for individuality, but if this was a style, there would be ALOT more drop outs and unwanted children then what we have now. People follow the TV, they don't consider what's off of it. I know that some people do, but the majority doesn't. So, these people could be as nice and decent off the screen, but people wouldn't notice. They have an image that is going to be hard to get rid of.

It's true that most female pop artists are, but a lot of underground and rock girls aren't that slutty.

I wouldn't call the people you are reffering to as muscians. But yes, they are skanky. There still are some out there who aren't, but I guess it is rare.

Yes, I agree it's sad but true. Since sexual type of clothes were a new thing and considered a taboo they have now become a thing that everyone is used to seeing. The next big thing might be full nudity but doubtful especially in the The States. Sexuality and all that has now become something that is being set into little children's minds. It's either V Chip or watching no TV at all.

Musicians are not skanks. Pop stars are not musicians; they are glorified whores. So yes, pop stars are skanks but <b>please</b> don't confuse them with musicians.

Girls in rock bands are generally not skanks. They are still musicians. I am a musician in band; I am not a skank. You are an oboe player, if I am to go by your sig. I assume you are not referring to yourself as a skank?

NOw by saying all female pop musicians, I take it that you have also looked at international female pop stars? I for one know that "Twelve Girls Band" of China are pop stars, though they only play instrumental melodies. Now from what I have seen, they don't dress slutty, nor do they act slutty, and most are in their 20's. So I advise you to not categorize all female pop stars as being slutty... stare

I for one don't mind the nudity hell its the human body usually 100% natural. How ever the pornographic suggestions are just sickening in these and its becuase of people like these and horny audiences which whatch them that makes nudity seems like such a dirty thing.

I'd have to agree with you. It is rather sad how people of fame dress these days, just to get attention from the public eye. I believe they shouldn't have to, yet some of the "stars" dress that way...either because they are forced to...or perhaps it is because they just like that sort of style. Frankly if they feel that they have a fairly nice body, then they will show it off. I don't really know why perhaps it makes them feel good, that or they might love the attention. Though...we will not be able to do anything about it. There are too many people who dress that way and not all of them are famous. Even teenagers and adults dress this way because they like it and feel like hanging out what they have.

A person who sings and plays in a band is not necessarily a musician. They are performers. For as long as your music isn't yours, I can't put you into the proper classification of a musician and thus, pop stars don't count as skanky musicians. Doesn't mean that there AREN'T any skanky female musicians though.

And yes, if you wish to nitpick, I consider even people who are classically trained to be performers if they are incapable of producing their own work.

True... girls and younger women feel that they're pressured to conform to a set image. When I was talking with my mum one day, she told me that she and her friends were still playing with Barbie dolls when they were fifteen. I really do think that we're being forced to grow up faster than in previous generations... it's a double-edged sword, because we're armed with more information than before, but I for one think that childhood should be something to cherish, not grow out of as soon as we're in it.
