I actively avoid horror films/books/games. Been scared and upset
too many times in my life to consider it a form of entertainment.

The main point of Horror is to take away to the fear!

I would probably disagree. I believe the foremost point
of any form of media is to elicit a response or propose
an idea. In the case of Horror films, the response is
typically (as the name would imply) horror or fear--
a quick adrenaline burst that some people find enjoyable.
The idea proposed varies from piece to piece. However,
I have never walked away from a horror film/game/novel
feeling more empowered, or less afraid. That's why I avoid
them.

Well...
Adrenaline wouldn't be the right term..
Because if a Horror film is too pulse pounding it becomes a thriller..
You do have a point about the whole Fear thing, but I guess in the end its a matter of simply what you like!
Some people simply like to be afraid!
