They put me in speech therapy when I was in 3rd grade for the whole year,
but it didn't make a lick of a difference. I don't hear* my accent unless it's been
recorded.
You might would have a hard time understanding me since I have the accent
which stems from having difficulty with the letter "r" and I have a soft and quiet voice.
Of late I've been having ear problems, they feel like they are being pressurized like they
do when I am on an airplane. I think it's just stress, stale air and the constant change in weather.
I do like to have such discussions as well. What kind of article was it?

And yes, we shall! I like using sarcasm a lot, but with my voice, people mistake it
for me being naive or something burning_eyes
I might have trouble hearing you if not distinct, dif speech pattern, or hard-ro-read lips. The 'r' thing is easy - once I know a pattern, I can compensate for it.
For the ear probs, try holding your nose and gently breathing out - only gently. I used to have eardrums that were like, sucked in, like I had a vacuum in my head *shut up Toriki*
rolleyes It took a few months before m eardrums stayed where they were supposed to, and occasionally still do it.
Looked for my post to see what the article was, were several. It's In the News forum, I think in Gaia Community Discussion, Toriki would know. Just look for my name in the author or poster column if you want to follow, I am there a lot. Mostly post on Vampirate Kitsune's and my threads, Kakteed's if she posts one. Those are news forum regulars and friends of mine. David2074 and I respect each other's post when calm and duke it out when passionate. Know him from Booty Grab. Made a new friend or two in the forum just lately. Know other regulars. Have been there more since not exchanging, just started again after mostly not in the past 2 mo. That's been my main source of income since a little after I got to GGP, about May of 2011, with Dandy. Had trouble with increasing lag in BG, and Gaia drained it and zOMG, also have had hand probs since mid-summer last year. Am hoping that gets better, isn't TIA's after all (small strokes), isn't one-sided. Might be a neck prob, getting x-ray.

Oh, yeah, mimicry - copycatting nearly identically, in this case, voice. Idk why, but guess I developed the skill in sorting out what I hear. Used the phone for co. travel reservations all over, and found myself speaking with the same accent of the person I spoke to. Didn't do it on purpose and was the hardest thing I ever learned NOT to do.
I think Patti was in 2nd Grade when I helped her, her sister in 3rd (no help), and me in 5th. That was the year I missed 1/3 of, 1/3 of was there but sick, and 1/3 was - 5th grade. Schoolteacher put me by a wall of drafty windows, because of where I came in the alphabet. Mom went in, but caved. Was a very bad year, all the way around.
