Mostly a bump in order to keep things alive on this thread, mostly.

Man, kids these days are spoiled. When I was into anime, they gave you a tape and a sheet of paper to read! No subs nor anything. Now a days, I can choose dub or subbed on a menu, and the dub isn't terrible.


The video quality has increased significantly too. I remember the low resolution, highly-artefacted versions for download online if you wanted the Japanese versions. Lovely glowing haloes of colour around most objects. But now everything I've seen is so clean and crisp. I recognise too that some Western companies have attempted to make better translations for the dubs, though personally I still couldn't imagine watching anything in English rather than Japanese when both are available.

That being said, I haven't been into it since... well, back when I was first active on this website, 20 years ago!
