Yeah, Scoots is a girl, and she's 1/3rd (technically 1/4th) of the Cutie Mark Crusaders Club along with Apple Bloom (Applejack's little sister), Sweetie Belle (Rarity's little sister), and Babs Seed (Apple Bloom's cousin). If the club name doesn't give it away, The CMC's dedicate their time to earning their Cutie Mark, a tattoo-like mark that magically appears on a pony's flank when they discover who they really are or their special talent. They are often taunted as "Blank Flanks" by their fellow colts and fillies who have their marks already.

Scootaloo has a need for speed, often acting like a young Rainbow Dash, who she holds as her idol and during one episode tried to impress her. As mentioned, Scoots is a scaredy cat as well, though tries to put on a brave face and act tough when watched. She loves her scooter, and has wings though as she's so young she can't do more than use them to hover for half a second or propel herself on wheels.

Edit: I forgot to say thank you to Fea for giving me some info on Scoots, and thank you Luxy for the more in-depth information! I actually do know about the Cutie Mark Club, I have learned a few things from the MLP events I have seen in other shops *snuggles everyone*
