I don't think gears and stuff would be a problem on certain machine designs as long as it wasn't over the top :0 Like if I remember right, Pluto has leg coils/springs? That sort of thing is pretty cool~

the insects will be a little closer to what people would consider "steampunk" should they be metal.
but otherwise yeah, it's basic machinery, not just cogs for the sake of cogs.
or goggles for the sake of goggles.

Hahah. Yeah, cogs can work depending on the design. I think Steampunk has honestly become a bit overused these days. Cyberpunk is kind of neat, too.

And it's not steampunk that's overused, it's the sterotype of steampunk. The brass brown cogs trope.
There's a lot more going on in the actual genre than that and a lot of cooler places to take those designs.

HAh, yeah, I suppose you're right. I think I am getting a little tired of that kind of design. I thought the movie 9 had some pretty big steampunk elements to it, and it was a great movie.
