Nicholas Flamel though his name may have been slightly changed was indeed an alchemist... the alchemistry had very advance roots in nuclear synthesis... also known as nuclear decay,,, When the alchemist claimed they could turn lead into gold they were correct... using a radioactive isitope of lead and exposing it to the correct conditions over time would indeed result in a radio active decay... eventually the decayed lead isotopes (now decayed as other radioactive isotopes) could become stable with 79 protons in the nucleus... Thats right I just explained a legitimate way of turning lead into gold however even with modern technology the prossece is generally to expensive to carry out and is an over all waste of time considering gold output per Pb isotopes present...
