    SpringXXSummerXXAutumnXXWinter

    CHAPTER TWO

On the battlefield of Serinola a mighty battle took place. At the given time, the other seasons led by Iris of Spring, Veles of Autumn and Zamir of Summer were winning the battle. Bodies were fallen and the winter forces were slowly being diminished, as the seasons started to gain momentum in the battle. Although Zamir and his forces were late, the losses heavy on Autumn's side, but it seemed like victory was just on the horizon. A battle won, meant that they were closer to winning the war. However not all was good and calm. Alyss would not take falling so easily. She summoned a little play thing for the seasons to fight, the forces of the undead. At first they were overwhelmed, fighting their dead comrades, but eventually learned that they cannot back down. They mustered their courage and fought back. Still it wasn't enough for Alyss. She decided to make her presence known. Using her powers, she summoned a mighty dragon made of both living and the dead. Since Autumn's forces were closer, a good portion of their soldiers were swallowed up, forcing the season forces to retreat. They did. They rather retreat and fight another day than die in a non-winnable battle or that was there way of thinking after all. So retreat they did to fight another day, one where forces working together could beat Alyss and her winter army.

Alyss under the false notion of truce, decided that it wasn't enough to win the battle. She wanted more. So she gathered her trusty soldiers, Bryson the loyal giant, her champion and son Dylan and her knightly lover Zeyada. She intrusted them with a special task. Her forces would infiltrate the camp. She wanted extra information to find out what the seasons were going to do and what they planned to do next.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the next chapter in our tale. Alyss has sent her forces and sent them to the main seasons camp. What will be learned at this camp? Would the camp find out there are spies among them? This is suppose to be an undercover mission after all. Would friendships be formed between the winter spies and their allied companions? Would Winter destroy the seasons from the inside out? Time will tell and secrets might be revealed. Who knows, but could this be a victory for the winter or would it actually be a victory for the seasons?

However there is something that Alyss doesn't know. Something or someone has been pulling the strings. You can't trust the shadows, for the shadows cannot be trusted. The shadows hide the darkest of secrets and something is watching from afar. They are watching and waiting. Waiting for the time, that their presence will be known, waiting for the time where all will fall. The shadows twist and turn, but they are always watching. Can you trust the shadows? Can you even trust your own sense of justice and honor? A time to question everything will soon be brought to light, but beware, as our characters will quickly learn what you see in reality does not always constitute the truth. Don't trust the shadows, don't trust the darkness and especially don't trust yourself and what reality has perceived. Good luck.

The sky was burning a bright orange and fiery red color. Blades were scattered across the village, where buildings were were split in half and burning. The smell of smoke and the smell of burning flesh filled the village. Dark clouds were rolling in, as the sky burned. Fallen corpses of men, women and children were draped over broken buildings, their blood spilling and soaking into the ground. Their eyes were lifeless and open as blades were impaled in their bodies. The wind picked up, blowing the flames. The flames spread to nearby buildings and corpses caught on fire. A figure was walking through the carnage, not at all afraid of what was happening around them. Their scarf was blowing in the wind. Walking besides them was a taller more predominant figure. They towered over their partner, both not saying a thing, for they knew what the other was thinking. No words needed to pass between them, for they could reach each other like a book. Fire crackled among them as it spread from one place to the next. They glanced at each other and smirked, gazing at the those that had fallen before them. The second figure carried a scythe in one hand, while his partner carried a long sword strapped on their back.

The flames crackled and roared, before it engulfed more victims. The corpses crumbled away as the fires consumed their very essences. The spiritual essence flew towards the two, before it engulfed their very being. As they passed, white essences emerged from the dead and swirled, heading towards their destined location. They each held out a hand and took the ball, before letting it absorb into their very beings. As they essences were absorbed, the bodies crumbled into dust before they were washed away with the constant blowing wind. The wind hollowed and the flames grew brighter, as the pair walked through the debris of those they just destroyed. Twisting around them were shadows that grew larger and darker. They twisted and turned, before slithering off. Each step they took, the grass shriveled up and died. It turned black as their source of life was ripped from them. A cloud of darkness started to expand, as fire crackled and cracked. Buildings collapsed, the stones crumbling and slamming against the dark ground. Fire engulfed all and left nothing. It killed, it suffocated and it absorbed. Fire was the giver, fire was the death bringer.

They stopped in the middle of the broken and destroyed village. The shorter of the two, stepped form, the fire and shadows hiding who and what they are. They held their hands out towards their partner, their partner grinned, before gripping the other hands. The shorter one, who seemed perhaps of a feminine stature, glanced at the taller, more masculine stature. He glanced at the shorter of the two, grinning softly. They touched hands, palm to palm. As their palms touched, sparks flew between them, as shadows exploded from their briefest of touches. It spread like wildfire and spread consuming the village. Soon the village no longer existed, the sky burned fire red, as complete darkness consumed everything and everyone. Not one existed, there was no life, everything was gone. The female glanced at her company, smirking. "Time is of the essence. Everything will fall into place." She laughed darkly. Her companion smirked, "Soon. It is only a matter of time." He laughed. Their laughter filled the crackling darkness, under the red sky, before they vanished into the darkness, leaving nothing behind.

Location: Serinola; The outskirts of the Spring Camp // Status: Flustered, pumped, and confident. // Company:Jayce, and the Adviser // Thoughts : Ex Thief or not, I have a job to do for this division. And I won't fail again! // Current Theme: Turning Towards Hope Dark cloud 2

    Close your eyes, keep silent.
Think about the reason you were born.
Look inward to learn the truth.
You were born to develop your soul.

    Starry sky healed their minds.
The blue sea wrapped them with a generous mind.
Yet, they make the same mistake many times.
Loosing their reasons like a beast.
    The truth is, only one....

"As you sow so shall you reap."

Lauren snickered slightly when he said 'this was happening.' . His obliviousness was always so cute to her. It was a reason why she began to form a new kind of affection towards him. Though, she knew that Iris had those feelings too. Whenever she heard his voice while they conversed, or even mentioned. She knows that the leader of spring has known the knight for longer than she has, so whenever she had the back bone to do it, she would converse with her about her feelings towards both her as a friend, and to Jayce as more than one. With his accepting words towards her past, she feels if she tired, there might be a chance for him to share her feelings, but she was going to take her time on this.

Her mind went back to the real world when the adviser cleared his throat. She then instantly blushed seeing him cracking his back. As in she made it so he wasn't comfortable. She rubbed her head slightly. "S-sorry about that Jayce." She mumbled before they conversed with the Adviser. She looked over at him when he mentioned Talon was apart of summer's fraction. She chuckled slightly shaking her head. "Talon's apart of the Autumn fraction. He's the knight that snapped me out of it during the battle." She explained before looking up to the sky. "He was more positive rather than panicky or worried to a point it'd be considered to be a risk on the battle field. So, I think Iris is in good hands." She said before the Adviser mentioned they'd lead the army.

Lauren turned to Jayce to work together as equals, but as he said to lead on 'Champion' The title dawned on her causing her to hesitate while looking over at her hammer and blade which lied dormant on the ground. With a new sense of inspiration towards fighting the dragon. She grinned grabbing her hammer, and blade carefully turning to the two to not hit anyone. She's done that as a past with the knights that harassed her as an 'accident'. "Sounds good to me since I came up with something that might work as a distraction for that dragon when we need to fight it again! One where we won't need the soldiers to sacrifice themselves. I'd need your help though Jayce since I can't control the metals in the earth." She said with a bright grin on her face.

Oh yes, her confidence surely was beaming now with this idea. She'd need to speak to others from the other fractions, and actually watch them fight if they were the people she'd fight along side with, but she knew enough about the ones around her for good combo attacks so this was enough for her! Sheathing her sword, she grabbed Jayce's hand slightly tugging him back towards the camps. "No time to loose! I want your opinions, and advice for this....If you're still free that is." She said tilting her head slightly.

    Swans sing before they die.
Their songs resound throughout the sky.
And I drop a rose petal down the sea of blood and tears.
    I keep praying

    Why do you feel nothing?
Why do you injure one another?
    Why? Aggressive culture of despotism.
Why? You'll never win the cursed war!

    "Do not you...hear god's voice?"

The sky was aflame with rich red and orange hues dancing in the horizon as the sun set towards the west. The passionate warmth of the colors blending like fire offset the chill creeping into the air from the impending night. Traces of melted snow all across the area reflected the pink of the sunset. Snow speckled with blood gave way to earth and fresh grass. This was neutral territory. At the fringes of the shift in land stood a girl and her guardian, witnesses to the beauty of a fading day and the birth of a tumultuous night. He was tall, nearly twice her size, with a strong back and firm shoulders that had nothing to fear from the cold. He was a solemn figure, as unmoving as a mountain. A smaller body sat at the base of his legs, rocking back and forth at a steady pace. thin and fragile in build but equally as immune to the frost. Black hair whipped in the wind that began as a whisper and grew to a howling siren warning of the oncoming storm. Pale cheeks flushed pink, signs of life from stolen vitality. Her eyes were as wide and murky as the incoming clouds and her lips trembled despite the lack of ability to feel most anything in the damned body she called her own. Ears that sloped into a gentle point were exposed, signalling her supernatural nature as she stared directly into her Earth's sun. It was a being older than she and it would continue to live on long after she was gone. This sky that shifted ever so slightly each passing century in her millennium of life had a purposeful cycle she could never outlast. As the sun sunk beneath her field of vision and the last rays of light were suffocated by a blanket of stormy clouds, Alyss released a long sigh, expelling all breath from her body. Resignation reigned on her features more than any fear or anger she felt on this day. This battle was not fought for her life or to spite a man who had snubbed her. This was war was one of balance, combating the ignorance of a mass and reviving the meanings of tradition within the seasons. It was for this reason she put her very soul at risk, tore it to shreds to appease a baseless god. It was the reason she had forsaken her sanity and her child. Her reason was to maintain balance on this world for a world without balance was sure to fall into ruin. Her love for her people had allowed her to be twisted into the being she was today. Lo and behold, let chaos reign.

Despite all of that, her thoughts remained on a single being inside the joint encampment that may put a damper on her plans. Veles. The name itself sent a shiver down her spine and a snarl rippling across her porcelain features. The sound that escaped her full lips was deep and guttural, unnaturally animalistic. She had sent her boys in before her, spacing their intervals of entrance so the timing could not be considered suspicious and placing them at various points around the vast base in the direction of neighboring towns. They were intelligent enough to make of that what they will. Most beings she had encountered over her lifetime had come and went, passing and deserting her through the process of death or other means. The demi-god was a glaring example of other means and one of the remaining few that knew her face and still lived. It was not a matter of him recognizing her for she was nothing like the woman she used to be. It was a question of self-control. Would she be able to restrain herself in his presence? For a cold, unfeeling shell of a body, the very thought of him set fire to the blood in her veins. It was not just anger, but also longing. It was a disgusting presence. Her nose scrunched up involuntarily and a faint tinge of soot filled her nostrils. The ancient clung closer to Bryson's legs. It must have been her imagination. Too much fear and other unwanted emotion clung to the thought of fire that had stolen so much from her. Still, she had to play her part in order to achieve the best possible outcome. The games she had in store would be so much more fun than mere physical assault. Her lips curled up into a grin much like a cat's with a bird in its mouth. She had the biggest hand to play and if her plan was prematurely stopped, the dominoes would fall into place all too easily. Alyss found herself looking forward to this much more so than she had been mere moments ago.

With a strong heave that belied her small form, she hauled herself up with one hand using the support of her dwarven companion's shins. Her movements suggested supernatural genetic pool in terms of strength and grace if the sight of her ears were not enough. Gone was the doubtful girl and in her place was the queen. Back ramrod straight and chin held high, she turned to face her disciple. "It is time," she announced gravely. Her eyes flickered down to the encampment at the base of the hill. It was well-placed amidst mountain, sea, forest, and plains. Despite their casualties and her advantage in numbers, it would be difficult to storm when blocked from three of four sides. She had sent her lover on the southern mountain path and her child to the front, one towards summer and the other towards autumn. It mattered not who they encountered first. Alyss turned her attention back to the man before her. Thin fingers crept up and slowly smoothed over the clothing she had conjured for him. The fabric was rich enough for a merchant's son and, more importantly, clean and unsaturated with blood. The wind carried a wide-brimmed black hat towards her and she caught it easily before placing it atop her head. The arc of her arm followed the wave of white that sprouted from her roots and consumed the darkness of her hair. The tips of her ears shrunk and rounded out. Rain was coming, so close she could smell it. The river nymph in her sung with anticipation. The halfling closed her eyes and took a deep breath, releasing it in one go and opening her eyes to reveal crimson orbs. "Come," she ordered, quietly but with a strong voice that did not waver. The crunch of icy snow under her boots was replaced by muted dirt as they abandoned the cover of the woods in favor of nearing the camp. They would not be the only visitors seeking aid. Her work with the previous village made sure of that. Sentinels spotted them and the long horn that signaled new arrivals no longer resounded with the number of refugees that had trickled in throughout the day. Guards approached them and did a thorough search of their persons. Her hands automatically wrapped around Bryson's arm as she sidestepped slightly behind him, an act that would casually show fear of the unknown but was actually more to reassure and, if the occasion called for it, restrain her solitary soldier. He did not seem the type to appreciate being frisked. Her fingers casually traced small circles into his bicep, eyes wide as she took in her surroundings and awaited someone of authority to verify their admittance.

Just shoot for the stars if it feels right, and aim for my heart~
    If you feel like
You can take me away, and make it okay
    I swear i'll behave
You wanted control, so we waited.
I put on a show, now I make it
    You say i'm a kid.
    My ego is big.
I don't give a s**t, and it goes like this

Take me by the tongue, and i'll know you
Kiss me 'tll your drunk, and i'll show you
    All those moves like jagger
I've got those moves like jagger
I've got those moves like jagger
I don't need to try to control you
Look into my eyes and i'll own you
    With them moves like jagger

Zamir took a small step away from the boy as he explained that he wasn't one who like to have his personal space invaded. He smiled sheepishly. "That's understandable. You've been through a lot, and the changes like this would be hard to take in." He said before he accepted the food and drink offer. He smiled sheepishly when he mentioned he didn't like alcohol. Why would a kid even drink the stuff? Even if it was to get the name out of him, it'd still be wrong in his head.

Sighing slightly, he stepped a bit in front of the boy. "Alright then, if you can follow me to the eating area. I can assure you that we don't just have alcohol for drinks." He said. He also wanted to mention that they didn't have wenches here, but that'd probably upset the pirate. This was a war for god sakes! It'd be terrible if innocent women were put in danger just for some solider's pleasure!

Stepping to the side to let the boy in first, he looked around the area before looking at the boy. "Our food supply is well preserved. So, I'm sure anything you'd like to eat, the cook would be able to make." He said before looking up at the designate cook. "Do you still have those pig's ribs?" He asked before the cook gave him a thumbs up which made Zamir grin. "Awesome!" He said as the cooks began that meal, one looked at the boy for his order. He was only thankful of the cold to better preserve the meat. Other than that, he wasn't a fan of the cold since he would rather relax with his harp on a warm summer's day rather than inside where the echos messes with the notes.

Maybe its hard when you feel like your broken and scared
Nothing feels right, but when your with me
I'll make you believe that i've got the key
So get in the car we can ride it wherever you want get inside it
and you want to steer, but i'm shifting gears
    I'll take it from here

    OutofChords: Shooort ish short.
