Vaughn scowled at him. Why should he even care, he thought, it was all for himself. "You didn't even invite her into your own bed at night, Victor. That's well enough, for it would be quite crowded if rumors were true, wouldn't it?" he lowered his voice, grip tightening as he drew him closer to whisper. "Do you care because she would rather have me, nestled between her sweet thighs long before she had you? I wonder how many times you would have tasted your own brother."

A grin spread across his face for the briefest of moments and he laughed. "Oh, Angeline! You're quite bitter today!" He shoved him away, and he took steps back. Bumping into the table, he put back a hand to steady it. His brother was furious especially so that he would not give him a straight answer. He wouldn't ever admit to rumors, and if his brother wanted the truth... "And the children you could have had... who would be able to tell them apart?"

"Very well, Fae.” He looked to Slevin and smiled, “Let us finish our business downstairs so you two can get some rest. I won’t keep you any longer than needed. Fae’s mother smiled at that statement and then they all headed downstairs.

Once they were there the mother hustled and bustled around to get them food. It was a comfortable kitchen and it was a warm home, the child would be happy here. He looked at Slevin and then opened his arms wide, “Congratulations on your daughter’s birth Slevin, I am truly very happy for you. I won’t keep you, but this does require your signature.

He pulled out the contract and showed it to Slevin when Fae's mother left them alone with plates of food. This says that you will work under a confidentiality agreement and not speak of what you are working on. You as the designer are entitled to twenty percent of the profits generated if the design works and is marketable. But due to the nature of the project, I will pay all of the expenses for the project and if it turns out to not work, I will pay a sum of five thousand gold pieces. In addition, you and I will have joint control over the final result and we and we alone will decide how to use it. He finished his little speech and handed over the contract for his review. “There are no hidden clauses, the only thing that I must demand is complete secrecy.

Victor’s anger reached levels he had never even known existed. Vaughn had crossed every line that was imaginable, he was not his brother, no longer. “All you care about is yourself. All you ever cared about was satisfying your ******** desires and never thinking about this family. I promised that I would take care of everyone when mother and father died and I will, just not you.” He ripped free of Vaughn’s grip and called out, GUARDS!

Guards came flooding in and surrounded the two of them, “I want you all to bear witness to this. I, Victor Thornias, King of Hackathorn hereby strip Vaughn Thornias of all titles, positions, and name. He is henceforth to retain the name of Vaughn Exile. I exile him from Venereia, forever. I deny him his claim to the throne, I deny him the access to the royal vaults, and I disown him from this family. Take him outside the city limits and leave him to rot.”

He turned from his brother, no, his former brother and walked away. “Goodbye Vaughn, never come back. If you do… you’ll die. The guards took hold of Vaughn at that point and began to drag him away. By then an advisor and servant had come in and had heard the end of it. “I want you to spread the word throughout the Kingdom. Every Lord, Count, Duke, everyone. I want them to know Vaughn is to be given no home, no help, nothing. Anyone that helps him, will be fined and tried for treason.

Angeline smiled bashfully and shook her head. "My lord, I fear there is no redeeming me. I am a failure; that is the sort of title that doesn't escape a person even after their death. If you see something more in this world for me other than quietly becoming some sort of hollow old maid, Gods bless you, because I cannot." She crossed her knees and ran her fingers over a book of hymns on the table, gifted to her by Sarah for guidance in her troubled times. Guidance, she laughed at the thought.

"Tell me, my lord, how can you help me? Can you give me a body that will keep a child safe for nine months? Can you give me a man that knows the value of love? Can you just fetch a world that doesn't view me as an object, and worse yet, a defected, imperfect one at that?! I will not marry again if it is not out of the desire of my own heart. Politics have cast me aside. I would sooner die than feel the things I felt upon a throne!" She said, standing up. Tears stung her eyes and her throat burned from the futile effort it had taken to keep them from rising.

Angeline paused and cleared her throat. "The pain is fresh, Lord Moriarty. You'll forgive me." She sat back down. "What is it you are thinking of?"

I’m thinking that people need to see how you can rule effectively. That you can actually handle the responsibility that people say you can’t. Look at me, I am a womanizer, a man who would rather be laying with woman that ruling a city. But I have ruled effectively and became a better person for it. It is the hardships we face that let us rise again, stronger than ever.

He stood and looked at her, “Leave this behind. Come with me to Korenhaal, become my Justicar and prove how you can be an effective ruler. We will make them realize that you were severely underestimated and misjudged.

He kneeled down and grabbed her hands, “Listen to me Angeline. There is nothing for you here, nothing but a life as a Lady in waiting until the Queen gets bored with you. You and I are more similar than you realize, we both had low expectations of us. But I rose above them, and you will too. Forget Victor, forget your cousin. You are Angeline Howe, and your name will be spoken of with respect and fear when I am done with you.” He looked into her eyes and then kissed her briefly, it wasn’t a long kiss, but she had to reawaken from this self imposed slumber. If she kept it up like this, he doubted she would stay in this world for much longer. But if she could arise once more, she could be a legend, the Howe named backed by his power and mind… unstoppable.

Life wasn't miserable... but court was far from what home had been like. There was no walking out along the beach when life grew to be too much. She didn't have Nautilus to bring her good cheer when she was feeling down. It could easily be depressing, if she let it. She refused to do such a thing now, when so many people were looking down at her, wondering if this sweet, innocent looking girl, with the ivory hair and fair skin could withstand the pressure of thousands of eyes always on her. She could do so, very well, and giving up would be a great disgrace.

She finished off a letter to her dear sister, filled mostly with reminders of her love and begging poor Nautilus to be patient while she tried to convince their father to let her take her sister up as a lady-in-waiting. He wasn't budging so far and every day Andraste grew more and more wary of him. He was already thinking to marry Nautilus off. While she couldn't do much better than the prince... she feared he would hand her off to the next highest bidder. That was a terrifying thought, considering just how young she was. She was hoping to get Kelevra's help sooner rather than later.

She sealed the letter in wax and left her rooms to send it off by raven herself. She didn't like the use of servants (she never had) and there wasn't much better for her to do with her day. Besides, Andraste just liked looking around the castle. It felt like she was walking through history with every step. She had no idea how old it was, and she'd been meaning to ask and find out more about it. She ran her fingers along the wall as she walked, paying no attention until she nearly collided with her betrothed and another young man coming out of the audience hall.

"My apologies, Kelevra... and, my lord." She curtseyed, letter still in hand.

Astaroth was pressed up against her and it was very, very difficult to keep his calm. He knew she could probably feel his arousal right now and he concentrated very hard on making it go away. But listening to the two royals brothers was as much a buzz kill as a bucket of cold water, so the problem solved itself.. Especially when the brother, Vaughn, was dragged out by guards and they began to drag him out of the castle.

He turned to look at Verity with wide eyes, “So… this happen often around here? Or is this just a special occasion?” He honestly couldn’t believe that he had just witnessed a disowning and an exile of a royal nature. That was something he had never thought would happen. Morgan must have been around because everyone heard a bark that to Astaroth clearly said she was hungry.

Then the King followed Vaughn but heard Morgan’s bark and then swiveled around to see his sister and the man that was pressed up against her. Verity. And you are…?

Astaroth Dwyn your majesty. That’s Morgan, my wolf.” Morgan had padded into view and had cocked her head at the King. Astaroth prayed she didn’t do something crazy like bite him.

So I suppose you both heard that, no. Don’t even answer, I don’t care. Just behave you two. You look good together.” With that the King stalked off to do whatever it was he was going to do. Astaroth just looked at Verity with wide eyes, “Your family is far more interesting than mine. then he kissed her again, this time without holding back.

Verity couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed…Though she probably wasn’t supposed to. One brother had betrayed the other- though she hadn’t heard Vaughn actually admit to what he was accused of, she knew he was guilty-and had been exiled for it. She felt a tremor of fear slide up her spine…If Victor would exile Vaughn for supposedly sleeping with Angeline, then what would he do to her if he found out she knew it was true and hadn’t told him? There was no reason to tell him…They had divorced, saving her from making someone confess…She didn’t like this mix of emotions that was boiling inside her…Guilt and fear and shock. The fact that Morgan had brought Victor’s attention upon them was less than fully appreciated, though she wondered why her brother had decided to comment about the two of them looking good together…What was he up to?! Suspicion started in…

She needed a new set of emotions…And the kiss that Astaroth gave her brought them out with a vengeance. Gods bless him…

Verity looked back to Astaroth and smirked. “And people wonder why I’m the way I am.” She kissed him, hard, nipping and biting as she started dragging him after her, heading to the nearest door to get away from the scene that had just unfolded. Once they were inside, she shoved him against the wall and bit his lower lip, her hands moving over the soaked shirt. They weren’t far from her room, so she pulled him by his pants and lip to her room and let the wolf come in before she shut the door and barred it against unwanted visitors. “Morgan, you may want to cover your eyes.”

What he offered her was too great. Tempting, but far too great. Angeline sat, stunned at the words that came out of his mouth, at least until those lips were on hers. "I... I accept. But my lord, I fear you should not kiss me, for there is one man I cannot, and refuse, to forget." She laid her hand upon her lips. "I have kissed too many with these lips. And besides, there is another woman you wish to kiss, isn't there?" Angeline paused, with a smile. Her hands folded in her lap almost innocently and she rocked forward. "I can tell you only this, my lord: she is not an ordinary woman, and any kisses you give you should save for her if you want her that badly."

She stood once more, brushing her long blonde curls free of her face. "I should like your company over dinner tonight, my lord. I would be much happier to speak of it more then, for I am... not yet able to as of this morning. Give me more time to mourn what I have lost, little as it may have been." She said with a curtsey. It was his cue to show himself right out of her rooms.

When he was gone, her plastered on, perfect smile faded. It was the very same she'd used for many years, the sweet cheer in her voice fake. She sat herself back at the windowsill and curled her knees into her chest. At least until dinner she could pretend like she didn't exist.

He slipped from a fumbled attempt at another grab at the king, the guardsmen rushed in so quickly. His brother had called them, for him. Everything he felt sank into the pit of his stomach and solidified into dread. Vaughn's arms were caught by the guards and he was ordered to be escorted to the city's limits. They did not take him in chains and he did not fight them. His brother had stunned him into silence with his decree. A thoughtful silence that he took into the back of the wagon, his head falling into his hands. He had no title, he never held a position, and his claim would be denied. Vaughn heard no protests as he was taken away, no crying from his sisters, no worried look from his little brother. A simple statement that he would die from a rumor circled within his head until he was almost thrown upon it by the guards.

Vaughn tripped and fell in the dirt of the road. He landed hard on his chest, fingers jammed onto the hard ground. "Apologies, Exile, but were you to set foot beyond here, we would have to execute you." One of the guardsmen drew his blade and marked a line. His tone held none of the sincerity an apology was meant to have, and it was very much an unnecessary observation that made his anger flare.

He pushed himself up and settled back on his feet. "Oh, there, is it?" he put a hand on the hilt of his sword. All he had to do was draw his weapon and give them an excuse to strike him down right there. It would be preferable to the slow death he would face in Hackathorn on his own. No one would help a man were it to paint them with treason. His fingers were tickled with the red ribbon, tied near the hilt. "... I'll be sure to avoid it." Vaughn let go, glancing up at Venereia in the distance. The last look at the city before he headed West on the road.

'Well I can cross being a fake sheep hostage off my imanginary list of things I need to do today', Alice thought as she gazed at the sky through a rough opening consisting of a broken ceiling beam. The loft was quiet until she found th half drunk holigans with the sheep. She had been coming everyday as a reprieve from the endless chores her Aunt Maud made her do. The thought of the endless chores her poor sick Aunty Maud had her preform made her mind glaze over. How angry her father would be if be found out the only sickness she ailed from was her own self entitlement. Alice only had 2 more days until she could leave the old wrench and return to her life of quiet And contentment.

The hostage barn was a perfect place to keep to herself, Alice later found out; the towns people loved their sheep far too much to barge in and overthrow the poor bandits. Checking in on the group of men below she saw only one sober one, the rest swaying and swinging around bottles. The sheep rested on the ground baaing once in a while, obviously not too troubled by the odd housing. Glancing outside through a knot in the weathered wood she saw the rocky hill side; green grass with the occasional boulder littering the ground. A few critters skittered around, disappearing into their own holes, or climbing up to perch on one of the sunny rocks. Alice longed to be outside but knew the day would be interesting yet. With a final glance to the bright out side she slid back onto a small pile of straw and stretched out, calmly listening to the men, sheep, and creaking of the old barn.

She stared out over the ocean in the direction their destination. She had hardly spoken the entire trip, and it seemed to be grating on Isaac’s nerves…But what could she say? She had to think, choose her words carefully. She would have to speak before they arrived, but she had to choose her words with more care than she had ever shown anything.

They were alone. No one was around to hear. Even the sailors who manned the ship were busy so high up in the rigging that they would not hear her words. She hadn’t told anyone what the letter had said, only what they needed to know. But Isaac needed to know more than what everyone else knew…At least before it came out. She pulled the letter out, she hadn’t relinquished possession of it since she had broken the seal and read it. She couldn’t risk it. Even as she read the words, she knew that the decisions she had reached were the right ones, she only hoped they were enough…

“Isaac…” He raised a brow. She’d hardly spoken, and she was surprised he didn’t startle. Then again, he probably knew her well enough to recognize the signs she was about to open up about something, whatever it might be. “When we get to Night Vale, you will have to control your temper, no matter what is said. Some things may be said that will…Make you very angry.” She took a deep breath and sighed.

“Thomas Hellsing was a Guard of Neverspring…A guard of Elysia. He murdered one hundred of the King’s Royal Guards. Tempers are sure to be high. I am used to dealing with the temper of the Council, and your temper, but the King of Acaelus…I need you to remain calm. For me. I’ll not give you orders pertaining to your emotions, but…I only ask…Please, control your temper until everything has been worked out. Please?”

Wraith made sure to wait until the woman was settled before he urged his mount to go back the way they had just come, the men following. “Madame Cristina, I am a noble born of Valryte, it is my honor to keep you safe.”

He said the platitude easily enough. Then gave the woman the courtesy of truth. “If you die, it’ll be my head. So do me the favor of staying alive if we get separated. You’re not the first woman I have come across who is capable of taking care of herself. The King’s best friend is an unusual woman that I would not wish to cross, so I do not think all women are helpless…”

Then again, not all women were Verity.

“I won’t leave you to mind the horses, but you’d better do as you’re instructed. It’s not just your life that could depend on it. Or mine. It’s the lives of these men with us. The King, his Advisor…Even those bandits. We don’t know why they took the sheep. That’s for the King to determine, but they need to be alive so we can get to the bottom of the matter. Just keep that in mind.”

After a time, they came to the end of the trail. He ordered some of the younger, less experienced men, to stay with the horses and they began their quiet approach to the farm house still a mile or so away. “I hope your wolf is well trained. The scent of blood may fill the air. I don’t want to have to worry about the creature going mad at the scent.” He pointed to a group of men and to where he wanted them to wait. The action was repeated with another group. Once they say the King’s men coming up the road, they would watch for the signal and flank the bandits, surrounding them and holding them so the King’s Justice could be done.

As Alice sat there waiting she realized how odd it was that neither side was doing anything. And the sheep, they looked almost like they knew these men, or at least the sober one. He, was looking hard in concentration, stroking one of the sheep absentmindedly. The towns people should have come in a long time ago, or at least asked what their demands were. It was almost as if they were keeping them in. She decided to take a risk and shifted to the edge of the hay loft. Swinging her legs over she asked,"Why do you want these sheep? There's only what, 10? I don't know much about the profits of sheep but they don't seam of much value."

"No apologies needed." In all fairness, he'd bumped into her as well. "We were just on our way to meet you." He informed, fixing a strap on her dress that must have fallen loose when they had collided. It may have only been her shoulder that was exposed, but for some men, especially young ones like Vance, that was all their imaginations needed. Not that Kelevra did not trust Vance near Andraste, but the idea of his old friend pleasuring himself to the thought of his betrothed was just enough to make him slightly uncomfortable.

"Vance, this is Andraste Trelane, my betrothed. Andraste, this is my old friend, Vance Bass. He and I squired alongside each other, back when being a knight didn't seem like such an impossible dream." Now it did, thanks to princely responsibilities. Thanks to Thomas, he at least had a small fight this day, but it was likely to be the only one he would have for quite a while. "He and I used to get into all sorts of trouble together... And we had a bit this morning, as well. Don't go in the Audience Hall, Andraste. Some madman really made a mess in there..." It was an understatement to the highest degree, but he did not want to make her uncomfortable by telling her that a single man had killed one-hundred trained guards and was still currently in the castle, even if he was locked in a cell. It was enough to make anyone lose sleep.

He noticed the letter in Andraste's hands, and knew who it was being sent to. She did this often, always in contact with Nautilus. Neither the King or Andraste's father had budged on the matter of bringing Nautilus to the castle, but Kelevra was still bugging his father about it when the timing seemed appropriate. After the demon slayer incident, it seemed completely otherwise, and he would give his father some time before he started pestering him about Nautilus once again.

But as of right now, Vance and Andraste had met, and the only thing left in the day to do was have a bit of fun, and Kelevra knew exactly how he was going to do that. "Vance and I were going to head to a brothel or two for some fun." That statement would have been enough to make any woman, especially one that was betrothed, perk up with disgust... And that was what Kelevra wanted. "Would you like to join us?" He expected her to say no. He expected her to slap him, and that was fine with him. He was trying to make her a little upset, so that when he explained himself it would all be a little funnier... Hopefully.
