For almost four generations, the Seven Kingdoms have been at peace. They have even taken to calling themselves the Septenary. United, yet separate. War has become a thing heard of only in story books, a word used only in bards tales of the past...

... But can this peace last? After the mysterious murder of the ruler of the Acaelus Kingdom, many are wondering whether the peace will last. The message he left in his blood was incomplete, but it said just enough for people to make their own implications and to warrant an investigation. But if this investigation leads them down a path to war... Some dread to think of it.

Nevertheless, every Kingdom is hoping for the best... But it is also wise to prepare for the worst. War may be among us. Will it come to that? Who will win? Will justice be served or will the land flood with blood and chaos? Will the death of one ruler break the foundation of peace?

1 ][ This is a Semi-Lit/Literate role play. This means punctuation and grammar are important. If you neglect it continuously, I will remove you from this role play. Your posts must be legible. If you do not think you can adhere to basic language arts, do not apply.

2 ][ When applying, please send in your character reserve and character profile AT THE SAME TIME. The profile is our way of seeing how literate you are, so please take your time with it and make sure everything makes sense.

3 ][ When choosing a picture for your character, PLEASE make sure they look like they belong in the Medieval era. And they MUST be real people. No drawing, anime, chibi, or anything else. Real pictures of real people.

4 ][ No God-modding. I can't stress this enough. If you kill/maim a character without the permission of the person who controls that character, I'll eat your soul.

4.5 ][ "Don't be invincible. Be believable, and write within what others give you." - GF-Shiva. ... Basically, what this means is that you shouldn't just make stuff up so that your character will be spared some trouble. Your character has to deal with the consequences of the decisions that they make. So keep this in mind when you are posting for them, and do not make stuff up in order to evade those consequences. If there was a loophole provided in someone else's post, feel free to use it. But don't make up a loophole for yourself. Doing so makes the role play boring.

5 ][ Your characters may fight, maim, torture, or kill, but remember that the Gaiaonline ToS state this site is PG-13, so please spare the gory details. Sex is also bound to happen, but please do not go into detail with it. Make it clear that the characters are about to have sex... Then skip ahead to after the deed is done.

6 ][ Characters can cuss and swear. But please keep it to a minimum. If we see a cuss word every few seconds, you will be asked to retype your post. If you don't, you will be reported and possibly kicked from the role play.

7 ][ I am the boss. But we're very open to ideas and opinions. So tips on how to make it better will always be welcome and taken into account. But I can't promise that you will all get what you want.

8 ][ When filling out the reserve and profile, make sure they are written in the third-person point of view. NOT first person... And then send them to me in a private message titled "A New Face In The Seven Kingdoms".

9 ][ We want this to stay active. So you must post at least once every two or three days. If you are unable to post for any reason, please tell me or post why in the OOC. If you continue to remain inactive, I'll give you a warning... Then kick you from the role play.

10 ][ When posting, include your character's current location. This is so other people can bring their characters to the right place if they want to interact with your character. You also need to include who your character is currently speaking with. This is so people know they have something their character needs to reply to, and will hopefully prevent characters from being ignored.

11 ][ If you want to spy on someone and figure out everything that they are up to, you have to create a character and play the spy. No NPC spies, no little birds that just happen to be following the person you want followed. You create the spy yourself, and you follow them yourself, and you do all the spying yourself. Or you ask someone else to play the spy for you, and they do it. Point being, all spies MUST be played by someone. This gives the one being spied on the opportunity to notice and do something about it, rather than having them being followed by some invisible force. This should prevent the Godmodding of information. People will be able to keep their secrets.

Below are the maps of the seven kingdoms. Each kingdom's territory is outlined in an assigned color, but those borders can change when territory is conquered or transferred to another kingdom through a Treaty.

The continent shared by five Kingdoms is referred to as the Lustrum. Together, they are also called the Quinary Kingdoms.

The continent with two kingdoms is simply known as the Binary Lands.

Below are all the major cities and capitols, listed by kingdom. The numbers next to each city are their defense ratio. That number indicates how many men the defending city will kill per soldier they have defending it. If the number is 1.5 to 1, that means you would need an army more than 1.5 times larger than the defending force to conquer that city.

Capitols have enhanced defenses, so your army must be much larger than the defending force in order to take the capitol. This is why building your military force is so important. Without a strong military, and careful preparation, completely conquering a Kingdom is nearly impossible.

Every Kingdom needs an army, and each kingdom's army is determined by four things.

-- One: How many major cities each kingdom has + their capitol(s)
--- Each major city raises a total of one-thousand soldiers to add to that kingdoms army, while the capitol city always provides two thousand soldiers. So if a Kingdom has eight major cities, that is eight-thousand + two-thousand = ten-thousand. Therefor that kingdom has an army of ten thousand.

-- Two: Alliances and Character Creation
--- Forming an alliance is a very effective way of raising an army as well, and it will go hand-in-hand with creating characters. For every character someone else makes that is loyal to your kingdom, you will gain an additional two-thousand soldiers. And for every character that you make that is loyal to another kingdom, that kingdom will gain two-thousand soldiers.
--- Making a character that is loyal to your own kingdom will grant you nothing. You are allowed to make characters that are loyal to your kingdom, but doing so will have no effect on building your army.
--- If a character changes loyalty, one-thousand soldiers are taken from the kingdom they were formerly loyal to and given to the kingdom they are loyal to now. If a character goes from being loyal to a kingdom to having a neutral loyalty, the kingdom they were formerly loyal to does not lose any soldiers.
--- If a kingdom is about to head to war, another kingdom they are allied with may send a portion of their own army to fight with them. Once the soldiers are sent to fight with their allies, they cannot be called back until after the battle. Keep in mind that sending a portion of your own army to aid another will leave you with less people to defend yourself, making your kingdom vulnerable to attack as well.


-- Three: Conquering
--- Conquering another Kingdom will give you control over their entire territory. This means their major cities become your major cities, their capitol becomes your capitol. This means the maximum number of soldiers you can raise increases drastically.
--- However, conquering another Kingdom doesn't not grant you IMMEDIATE access to a new, huge army. It takes half a year to raise an army of full potential. So it may take a timeskip or two before you have a massive army again.
--- In order to completely conquer a Kingdom, you must take it's capitol.
--- You may also attack the major cities and overtake them. If you conquer a city, it is added to your kingdom and will give you a larger army. Cities can be taken back at any time however,
--- Losing a major city will not decrease the size of your army, unless your soldiers were there to defend it and they died. However, when half a year has passed, the amount of soldiers you raised will have been reduced by one-thousand for each major city that was lost. The more major cities you lose, the less soldiers you raise, and the smaller your army will become after each lost battle.


-- Four: Treaties
--- Battling is not the only way to gain territory. The day may come when you realize you have a large enough army to conquer a city, but attacking will mean losing your own soldiers... And losing those lives could leave you vulnerable after the battle. In cases like that, it can be considered wise to form treaties with other kingdoms. You can offer them something in exchange for one of their cities... Or they may simply give you the city as a sign of good faith... Or they may simply send men to aid you in battle. A treaty can serve any number of helpful purposes. But be weary of just who you are making a treaty with, for they can betray you at any moment.

When one commits to war, they have to make peace with the fact they may not win. Who wins a war is determined by several things.

One: Size of Army.
A kingdom's military force is the basic and most important factor in winning a battle. There is strength in numbers, and the size of your army will help determine whether or not you can defend yourself, or overtake another kingdom.

Two: Battlefield
The battlefield is also a factor in determining which way a battle will go. Some places are better defended than others, and will be harder to take. Some places have high walls that allow advantages, sometimes allowing small armies to defend themselves against much larger forces.
Two armies can also choose to meet outside of a city or town for battle. This means that nobody has an advantage, and the larger army will win. But doing so does not result in losing or gaining a new city within your kingdom. It serves only to weaken the opposing kingdom's military force.

Three: Path of Attack
Where you are attacking from is another important thing to consider when committing to battle. If you attack a kingdom from the sea, and that kingdom has islands near the city you are attacking, they may have an advantage over your ships, possibly even sinking half your army before you reach the shore.
Attacking from land may be more difficult if you are attacking a city that has mountains or forest surrounding it. Such cities have a home-field advantage and can rain arrows down upon you, killing a large portion of your attacking force.
You may also move passed major cities and go straight for the enemy capitol, but you must realize that marching an entire army takes time, and does not go unnoticed... You can not march an entire army across your kingdom and up to the enemies capitol in a matter of hours. It will take days, sometimes even weeks, and the enemy will certainly notice the army heading towards them.
Marching an army through the deserts is also not advised. The hot environment will bake the soldiers in their own armor. Passing an army through the desert results in losing several of your soldiers. How many will be determined by a random number generator. Whatever number it lands on is multiplied by one hundred, and that is how many men you've lost to the desert. It would be advised that you find a different route for your soldiers to march.

Four: Attacking
Attacking is a double sided sword. While attacking is one of two ways (the other being a treaty) to take cities for yourself and increase the size of your army, attacking is the disadvantaged position in battles when attacking an enemy city. All cities have their defenses, and those defending the cities will utilize them against their attackers.

Five: Defending
Defending may not help you gain more cities and help increase the size of your army, but defending always has the advantage over attacking. Every city has it's own defenses, and using them against your attackers will help you kill more of their soldiers. If you have a battalion of 3000 defending against an enemy battalion of 3000, you are likely to win, because your city's defenses gave you a tactical advantage.
It is advised that you split your army up into garrisons and send each garrison to man whatever major city you think is in need of it.

But if you are meeting outside of a city, on an open field, two armies of 3000 will most likely kill each other off.

Within the Seven Kingdoms, there is a congregation that has studied the arcane arts, and have trained themselves to use powers beyond that of a normal person. This group has kept their presence and their gifts secret, for their only desire is to have an understanding of magic and all its forms. They do not wish to rule, they do not wish to gain power. But they do wish to teach it, and they watch closely over the Kingdoms and those within them, keeping an eye out for those who may prove themselves worthy to learn the arcane arts.

The group simply calls themselves The Gathering, and The Gathering is split into separate factions, each faction specializing in a certain area of magic. The factions are listed below.

Sect of the Lucid
The Sect of the Lucid has learned to look beyond their own physical limitations. By looking at the world with a dreamer's eye and a realists mind, they found a way to manipulate their own bodily energy with nothing more than the force of their will.
- Kinetic

--- Creating balls or blasts of energy from seemingly nothing.
--- Energy can be thrown, exploded, or manipulated for other physical uses.
--- Energy appears as a semi-clear liquid, though the color shade may vary depending on the person.


Children of All
The Children of All have devoted their lives to understanding the elements of the earth. When joining this faction, recruits are asked which element they wish to control, and they learn only to control that element. Anyone caught dabbling in more than one element without permission is immediately banished from The Gathering.

-- Pyrokinesis - Manipulate flames, but cannot create it.
-- Aerokinesis - Manipulate air, but cannot create it.
-- Hydrokinesis - Manipulate water, but cannot create it
-- Terrakinesis - Manipulate dirt and rock, but cannot create it
-- Florakinesis - Manipulate plant life, but cannot create it.
-- Electrokinesis - Manipulate electricity, but cannot create it.


Brotherhood of the Serpent
The Brotherhood of the Serpent focuses on the arcane art of healing. The men and women of the Brotherhood are first taught to control their own bodies so they find the inner peace needed to work the magic that heals the broken bodies of others.

-- Heal cuts, concussions, broken bones.
-- Cure diseases, poisons, illnesses.
-- Cannot repair mental ailments
-- Cannot bring the dead back to life.
-- Cannot be used to harm, only to heal.


The Severed
The Severed have one of the most misunderstood magics, and one of the most dangerous. They have found a way to be in two places at once, and despite the advantage this may seem to give them, it also makes them twice as vulnerable.
- Dual Location
-- At anytime, split one's body into two separate bodies, with two separate minds, but with a shared will.
-- May rejoin into one body again when desired.
-- Anything learned by the clone will become shared knowledge with the original upon rejoining.
-- Allows for faster studying, better spying, and alibis if needed.
-- If the clone is killed, the original feels their death, but does not die.
-- If the clone is killed, the original will be unable to make another clone until the wounded magic heals. This takes about three months.
-- If the original is killed, the clone will die as well, no matter how far away, or what it is doing.
-- Cannot split more than once.


The Faceless
The Faceless are men and women who have transcended the mirage of an identity. They are no one and everyone. They can be whoever they want to be at any time. They have learned to master their own appearance, and with a simple force of will, they can turn themselves into any form they desire.

-- Allows for better spying, effective assassinations, and beguiling disguises.

You can not make a character that already knows magic. It is something that is to be learned. Prinsith and I will determine which characters can learn magic. When deciding, we take a few things into account...

- Are the posts for that character interesting.

Three: Likelihood
- The Gathering does not take tyrants as students, and if it appears that your character will abuse the powers they could offer, they will not teach that character. The Gathering does not wish to rule the world with magic. They wish only to understand the arcane arts and to educate themselves so they may solve the mysteries of the world.
- Once you have learned their magic, you may do with it as you wish... But tread carefully, for misunderstood things often breed fear, and fear breeds hate, and hate breeds violence, and violence breeds death.
