Story

In a world far from our own, there lays the Crystal Forest. An island empire full of magic and wonder. Long ago, the Crystal Forest raged with all-out war between the races who believed they were superior than the rest. One day, a mysterious being arrived, cutting down all who oposed him. He became the victor of the millenia-long wars. Under his rule, the Crystal Forest - now called the Crystal Empire - peace was finally brought to the people who resided there. Wise, brave, and just, he ruled over the Crystal Empire with a fair hand. Peace and joy rang through all the land for five hundred years under his rule.

The king had three sons - each by a different mother - whom he treasured above all else. The eldest was born from a mother of darkness. The second from a mother of light. The youngest from a mother of twilight.

On his deathbed, the king could not bare to choose any of his sons as his one and only successor. And so, he and his most trusted advisors split the Empire into three separate countries.

To the west, Dranvan, the land of the beings bathed in darkness and shadow. He gave this land to the eldest son to rule over with a firm hand.

To the east, Slikan, the land of the beings who danced in the light. He gave this land to the middle son to rule over with a kind hand.

Splitting the east and west in two, Tairain, the land of the twilight, where all walks of life could gather in peace and harmony. He gave this land to the youngest son to rule over with a welcoming hand.

Finally, the Great King passed to the next world, and the Crystal Empire was split between the three brothers. However, the long-lasting peace began to waver, as the two eldest sons both believed that they should have inheirited the Crystal Empire. Arguments turned to anger, anger turned to blood, blood turned to battles, and battles led to all-out war.

Dranvan and Slikan were now at war.

The youngest brother, however, remained neutral and refused to take a side. Caught in the middle of his brothers' fued, he remains in Tairain - the land of Twilight.

It has been a hundred years since the war began, and still there is no end in sight. Since then, both the dark and the light have produced three different heirs, while the twilight is without an heir.

The heirs of either side have met in a clash of secrecy, good intentions, and deceit. Thus far, nothing definitive has come of their meeting but uncertainty, heartache, and more mistrust.

Recently, however, the King of Tairain has finally chosen a Queen, though under dire circumstances, he still cherishes his new bride. The new Queen still has much to learn, but will certainly thrive under the wing of her King. And yet, the couple's new-found love can not stop the inevitable.

Other beings have discovered the Crystal Forest. Beings that are completely foreign to the creatures that reside in the three kingdoms: Humans. Back on Earth, the year is 3048. Things are much different than we know them today. A single organization - Global Santo Corporation (GSC) - now rules the entire globe with an iron fist, the CEO at the top of it all. GSC is the supplier of all of Earths advanced tech, and keeps its own version of order with its privatized army and specialized mercenaries and assassins. Medicine and scientific discoveries and inventions have also all been advanced and partially privatized under GSC's 48-year reign. Recently, GSC's scientists discovered a separate pocket in space-time that holds living organisms. After a year of tests and various inventions, the scientists have discovered how to create a portal between dimensions. The CEO is now sending out a reconnaissance team, headed by his heir and vice president. They're coming with a small group of trained mercenaries, medics, and scientists, intent on studying and taking over this new place, and they will not be stopped so easily.

Technology is a whole new form of "magic" that the residents of the Crystal Forest have never come up against. How will they cope with the new invaders? Will the three kingdoms continue to stay divided? Will they band together to drive out the invaders? Or will some of them try to befriend these strange new creatures? You decided!

Rules

General:
Follow Gai's TOS! No Godmodding! No mary sues! No auto-hitting! If you have no idea what any of these are, go look it up. I'm not your nanny. No killing anyone off unless you've talk to them and me about it, and everyone agrees. Keep it about PG-16 with the romance. If the clothes start coming off, time-skip. Cybering is a no-no. Violence and romance are both encouraged. Swearing's fine, just don't swear every other word, as it gets old really fast. Your acceptance here is on a three-strike rule. Three strikes of disobeying the rules, your black listed and your ejected from the game. No acceptions. I will not let this RP die because of someone disobeying the rules. I can add/change/take away rules whenever I want, as I'm the goddess of this RP. New rules will be in red! Though I probably won't add much, if at all, keep your eyes open. I'll also announce new rules in the OOC and announcement post.

Posting:
This is a Semi-Lit/Lit RP. You are required to post AT LEAST once every three days. That's twice a week. Let me know if you'll be gone longer. If you're gone longer without telling me, you'll recieve a warning every three days until your three strikes are up, and then you'll be gone. No excuses. I require at least two well-written paragraphs. That's at least ten sentances. Though if you have one post a few sentances shy due to writer's block, don't sweat it, we've all been there, as long as your partner has something to go off of. THERE WILL BE NO ONE-LINERS! PERIOD! Writer's block is no excuse for one-liners I cannot stress this enough. All posts will be in third person. (ie: She walked through the forest.) Use "these" for talking. It'd be nice if you used a different color and/or bold for talking also so it's easier to tell it apart from actions. Speaking of, no * or ~ for actions. Italics for thoughts, please! It's always nice to pretty up your posts, but I'm not going to require much. At the very least, your character name and picture (make sure it's not huge and doesn't stretch the page). You wanna put more, go for it, as long as those two things are there. If you're in a group setting and RPing with more than one person, unless it's previously discussed with everyone in the group at that time, please keep to a pattern and don't jump all over people's a** with your own posts. Be patient. Nobody likes their turn to be skipped. If someone's really lagging and you don't think I've caught it, please let me know and I can speak to them if it becomes a constant problem.

Profiles:
General: Anime/drawn pics only, please. PM me all profiles. Do not post until I've accepted you, or you will be automatically out. Title them with the place that your character is from (Dranvan, Tairain, Slikan, or Earth). In the bios, no memory loss unless you have an actual plan behind the memory loss and fill me in on it when you send me your profile. There will be no laziness in these profiles! PM me if you want to change something after your profile has been posted - you get two chances to change something.
For those who live in the Crystal Forest: There are no humans in the Crystal Forest. If you're making up a race, or using a being that is rare/almost unheard of, give us a little blip in your bio telling us what it is. There are also no modern weapons in the forest - guns, explosives, etc. Pure-breds or half-breeds only. No "I'm 1/3 this, 1/3 this, and 1/3 this". That gets too confusing.
For Those who are coming from Earth: They have advanced tech. Have fun with that. If you need help, feel free to ask. They are normal humans. Period. No exceptions. No powers of any kind (including psychic-type powers). Some can have cyborg/robotic parts if it goes with the character, but please not too excessive so they're not some super-powered cyborg. Their power definitely lies within their tech, though please don't be too excessive with what you supply your character with personally. Chances are, they'll still be issued other things from GSC.

Dranvan:

Cormah City - The castle city of Dranvan.
Lava Feilds - The southern area that is covered in miles and miles of active volcanos and lava. The home of the dragons, salamanders, harpies, and other creatures of fire.
Hell's Gate - A mysterious fifty-foot-high archway. Guarded by a group known as the "Sages of the Flame". It is said that if you walk through the arch, your soul will be ripped from your body and tortured for all eternity. However, the sages guard it well, and will let nobody near it.
Apalor Port: The main port of Dranvan. A great place to buy black market items and rare items.
Usca Desert: A vast desert filled with ever-shifting sands and dunes. An uneducated and weak minded traveler could easily get lost, due to the realistic mirages it can plague you with.

Tairain:

Twilight City - The castle city of Tairain.
The Crytal Tree or The Mother Tree - The heart of the Crystal Forest, which lays in Tairain. Legend has it that the Mother Goddess' spirit is trapped inside, and she watches over the Crystal Forest, protecting and nurturing it, keeping the forest alive, and keeping the crystals glowing with power.
Thorin's River: So named after the High King of the Crystal Forest who brought peace to the land.
Ruins of Ribeira: Once a quaint farming village, it is now a decimated pile of rubble with a few skeletal houses remaining.
Obore Town: A thriving town alongside the river. The only downside is that the part of the river that the town rests on is rather rough. Children and weak swimmers often drown in this part of the river.

Slikan

Lillian City - The castle city of Slikan.
Nuo Sen Lake - A huge lake with enchanting healing powers.
Picea Town: The town of the mer-folk. There are two levels to this town. The surface level where the mer-folk trade goods with the land-dwellers, and the ocean level below the cliffs, where they reside most of the time.
Sakura Village: Known for it's beautiful cherry blossom trees.
Angel Wing River: So named due to it's shape, and the type of beings that like to reside in the area. It serves as a moat, flowing around the edges of the castle city until it ends into siren's cove.

All kingdoms have near-clear blue skies with the occasional wispy cloud drifting across the sky. The temperature is hot, with an occasional cooling breeze.

FAQ

How long does it take to get from one Kingdom to another? It depends on where you are. It takes roughly a day's ride by horse or carriage to get from one castle city to another. Two days if you're on foot and travel the entire time there's daylight. Other methods can get you there faster. Flying, for example, if your character flies faster than a horse can run, will get you from one city to another in about half a day. The kingdoms are relatively big, so just make sure you take everything into account.
What happens if the royals in power die or are assassinated? If both the King and Queen die, rule goes to the eldest offspring, regardless of gender. If the Queen dies, power stays with the King. If the King dies, by rule of marriage, power stays with the Queen unless she decides to relinquish it to the eldest offspring. That will be the general rule unless the King decrees otherwise. Kings, if you want to decree otherwise, chat with me via pm first, please.
What do you call people from the other countries? Dranvan: Dranvans. Tairain: Tairainians. Slikan: Slikans.
What is the religion/beliefs of the people of the Crystal Forest? They generally believe in one Goddess, whom is more popularly known as "The Mother Goddess", or just, "The Goddess." Just below her in godly rank are the spirits of Earth (generally male), Flame (generally male), Water (generally female), and Wind (generally female). Normally, those associated with the particular element seem more in tuned and more often than not respect (if not worship) the spirit of their element along with the Mother Goddess. (ex: mermaids: Water, dragons: Flame, elves: Earth, and angels or most other winged creatures: Wind.) It is a wide-spread belief that the elemental spirits are the children of the Mother Goddess. There are also other various sects that have beliefs of various natures, but 95% of them all come back to the basic idea of the Mother Goddess. The other 5% is quite secretive and rather unknown.
Different people with different titles? Kings and Queens are to be addressed as "Your Majesty." If you are of higher standing (such as Princes, Princesses, Lords, and Ladies), "My King" or "My Queen" is acceptable. Using names (for example; "King [name]) is acceptable when they are being formally announced, or if it is by someone of high standing whom is very familiar with them and/or is deeply in their favor.
Princes and Princesses are to be addressed as "Your Highness". If you are of higher standing "My Prince or "My Queen" is acceptable. Same as with Kings and Queens on the matter of names.
Lords and Ladies (those who hold a higher rank in the courts (mayors, generals, captains, ladies in waiting, court officials, etc), are to be addressed with their title. If one is below them in rank, or are even in rank and unfamiliar or unfriendly with them, they must use their last name after their title. If one is above them in rank, or are even in rank and familiar or on good terms with them, then they may use their first name with their title.
