Wilhelmina Schwartz
Blackshade Syndicate

Blackshade Syndicate

Wilhelmina watched as Beaumont left, taking his irate charge with him. Lowering her pistol, she looked at Petra. 'That man has some nerve,' she commented. Holstering her gun she added, 'And he is teaching it to his apprentice. That girl will never learn anything if he continues to mentor her that way. She would be much better of as an architect.' The tall woman sighed. 'Unfortunately, there is no talking to him about giving her to the syndicate. But what is one to do?'
She walked over to an intercom system nailed to the wall. Pressing the call button, she said in an uncharacteristically sweet voice, 'Wesley, be a dear and report to my office immediately.' After waiting at the desk in her office for about five minutes, there was a timid knock at the door. 'Come in,' she called. A young man popped his head around the door before tentatively setting foot just inside the room. Wilhelmina smiled at him amicably and gestured to the chair across from her. 'Please, have a seat.'
Wesley hesitantly sat down, a cold sweat breaking across his brow. The head of Blackshade Syndicate was never this congenial. Not unless she was very angry. That he was the only one in the room with her frightened Wesley more than a little. Still, he could do nothing except wait for her to begin.
'Wesley,' his name dripped from her lips like honey. 'Would you care to tell me how, not one, but two intruders not only crept aboard my ship, but into my private chambers today?' Her tone was still sickly sweet, but the jade green eyes that met the lieutenant's were icy steel.
'I... err... I... that is.... I was not aware there were intruders aboard the ship.' He answered lamely. This was it. He was as good as gone. There were rumours; people had gone missing for less than this.
'I know you were not aware!' Wilhelmina shouted, slamming her palms on the desk and standing. 'And whatever it is you were aware of, it was not what you should have been aware of.' She calmed a bit and continued. 'Do I seem like the kind of person who takes guard failure lightly?' Wesley could only stare, mute. 'Well? Do I, Wesley?!' He shook his head slightly this time. 'Good.' The furious woman turned her back to him, but Wesley dared only to breathe. 'Wesley, tell me. If you were in my position, and someone failed at such a task, what would you do with that person? Hmm? Tell me, Wesley. What would you do?' She turned to face him again.
He stuttered for a moment before replying. 'I- I suppose I would have him shot,' he croaked.
'Good choice,' Wilhelmina said, drawing her pistol and shooting the man between the eyes in one fluid movement. 'Exactly what I would have done.' Holstering her smoking weapon, she strode to the intercom. 'James from crew six, please report to my office.' As she removed her finger from the call button, she noticed Petra sniffing the dead man's body. 'Petra, darling, do not play with that. You do not know where it has been.'
((Now see what your debauchery has done, Raven. You got someone killed. Tsk tsk. I did not mean to chase you off so quickly, though.... >.>
And I had to retype all of this because the first one somehow got deleted. And I will swear up and down that the last one was better. gonk ))
