It's not like your avatar is bad looking, it's cute actually, but there's so much more you could do with it. More detail can make it look much more special, try more accessories.
Gray Governess could go well with it also.

I like your colors, but in my personal opinion, you should remove the white.
The boots don't have any gold on them, which makes it unbalanced.
You need to break up the tavern wench sash more.
And the headpiece is kind of... awkward.
