That's kind of contradictory, since what people say about it can change how comfortable you feel, but yeah, it's important to be thick-skinned if you want to follow your own personal style.
Perhaps, but not everyone finds it important to be truly fashionable, and for those people, they may not want to pick up on trends unless they're drawn to them.
Yeah, people assume that just because it's currently in fashion, it has to look good. It's the same way with archetecture. It's better to have a personal style preference for both than to go along with anything that's considered modern.
I like clothes, but not fashion trends. There's nothing wrong with following trends that look good, but so many of the "fashionable" clothes nowadays are pretty ugly.
