I am the former Captain of the Second Division of the Gotei 13 as well as the former Commander of the Shinigami Special Forces. I first appears in the form of a black cat to Ichigo and his friends. My true form is that of a dark skinned woman with purple hair and golden eyes. My personality is funny and witty, and I love to tease people who appear too serious, such as Ichigo.
I was born as the heir to the Shihoin Clan, one of the four great noble families of Soul Society. As the head of the Second Division, I excelled at hand-to-hand combat, flash steps, and kido abilities. I took a young Soifon under her mentorship, teaching her many of the skills that would allow Soifon to later become my successor as Captain of the Second Division and the Special Forces.
I left Soul Society and my post as Captain when I aided Kisuke Urahara, a close childhood friend, in his escape from Soul Society. Prior to the start of the events of Bleach, I had spent over 100 years in exile. To conserve energy, I spent much of the time in the form of a black cat.
Although I had proven to be a skilled fighter, I prefer to avoid direct combat. Reflecting my cat-like appearance, many of my moves are highly acrobatic and agile. I am a master of flash steps and hold the title “Goddess of Flash”, even out matching Byakuya Kuchiki in speed. I rarely uses my Zanpakutou, and rely on hand-to-hand combat combined with advanced kido techniques to dispatch foes.
