Skateboarding isn't just a sport like basketball, football, soccer...etc.... Skateboarding is a big slab of marble and the skaters are the sculpture always chiping away and shaping it into a beautiful master peice which is the way we skate today and the thing is it's always changing and shifts into a new form everyday. I don't see basket ball being played any different, football or any other sport besides sports that fall in the category with skateboarding.
