Known as the 'Beastmaster' Shido Fuyuki was once one of the Four Kings that served under Raitei, the Lightning Emperor in the Limitless Fortress. Shido's special ability allows him to communicate with any animal via a single whistle. He is a member of the Maryuudo Clan, and has the ability to take on the characteristics of about 100 different types of animals, such as a bat's echolocation abilities, or a wolf's strength and claws. It's been mentioned that Shido was a "genius which comes only once in a 100 years", which may mean that his ability to take on so many animal forms may be a unique thing.

He is quite protective of his former Emperor, and hardly considers Ban to be a worthy partner. He's even formed his own recovery service, and at times it seems he's done so just to spite Ban Mido, with whom he shares a heated rivalry. He occasionally partners up with Emishi on missions, and when not working, he spends his time guarding his dear friend Modoka.
