I just had to read somebody the riot act on vampire lore, my family is a direct line from William the Conqueror, who was 2nd cousin to King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary, who was a first cousin to Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, the three time Voivode of Wallachia, who is also known as Vlad the Impaler, Vlad Țepeș or simply as Dracula. So I spent quite some time researching the topic. Like he was trying to claim his character avie was a vampire ghost, because he was a vampire who was killed (=p which is so dumb), and he thought he could still be a ghost because he thinks a vampire has a soul, which is just the dumbest concept i've ever heard of. xp

Hey wempire, just wondering, is there something more real-name-ish i could call you since I comment you so often? Anyhow, I'm working on creating a big contest and I'm looking for a Magyar style influence on the theme for one of the events within the contest. it's a steampunk based contest and i've always thought that a Budapest look to a steampunk city would be perfection for the Victorian era style subsection of the steampunk genre. it would help make the contest look truly amazing. Any suggestions? biggrin

Here's the lowdown on the contest:

it's a steampunk based contest called City of Steam, with a 5 million gold take-all-pot for the winner. the influences will vary from Jules Verne to Doctor Who to Dark City to Cowboy Bebop to Sanctuary and etc. I plan on covering all the varieties of steampunk. it's a muti-part contest with mini-quests/mini-contests based on various steampunk novels, movies, and shows, not copies of them, but concepts derived from them with a gaian twist. since i'm fairly new to gaia i'll need a gaian history buff to assist, i want the continuity of the event's history to mesh seamlessly into gaian history, with a lost city kind of concept at the end similar to the Journey To The Center of the Earth meets City of Ember, but instead with a haunted steampunk city buried deep within the bowels of Gaia, I got the idea while I was watching Sanctuary the other night actually. I'm a huge steampunk geek, but I'm usually quiet about it. In addition to the concept process, currently I'm questing to recruit 4 artists, 1 html designer (maybe if i'm lucky , carbonphyber will help me), 2 writers (in addition to myself), and a few hosts/general staffers.
