Quiet Daemons
| It comes and goes as it pleases. Always lingering too long, yet vanishing before it can be captured or contained. It is a parasite, a beast birthed from darkness that slowly eats the essence of the soul, leaving the host unaware until it has grown too enormous and dangerous. Inside all of us exists such a corruptive being, which we must contend with daily to hold onto sanity and remain alive.
Some falter, others become weak and suffer, but everyone of us wears the unavoidable scars of triumph or defeat. Even so, at times abnormalities strike to produce the quiet ones or the lost ones. These are the unexplained, the left behind, and the silenced, who know not of the alterations tainting far beyond what the parasite originally was implanted to do. In this, these strange occurrences, the darkness—or sin—transforms into a nearly unstoppable insanity.
At this point the seven deadly sins are mere toys used by children, because now a startling potential is coming into fruition. If left without prison or boundaries, or ultimately lines to dare not cross, these specimens will soar above their own inherited natures to become what this world calls: demons. However, though such a title holds different meanings and suggestive qualities, what these 'demons' are does not fall under assumed categories.
These 'demons' are merely the poisoned humans most vulnerable to wars on a higher scale, inside and outside of their mental realms. The [new] darkness dwelling within their essence is a wildfire which reconstructs the host towards of a state making their distinguished scents and appeals more appetizing and tantalizing. During this stage, spiraling down towards their graceful collapse, the hosts can either be self-sacrificed or be rescued from impending doom.
As a warning, beyond the various omens of escalating despair, never should these 'demons' be immersed in too frequent amounts of rivaling drama; never force their severed psyches to conflict against each other, much like the tug-of-war between stereotypical good verse evil, or be forewarned of the breakdown kindling greater turmoil.
If another heedlessly festers the plague of ignited madness then resist conditioned selfishness or propensity to abandon these quiet 'demons' to their own intellectual apocalypse. Do not anticipate luxurious reversals when extending concern, the slightest hint of self-gain will harvest a negative recoil. |
