The sharks are fed constantly, so they are never hungry enough that they'd be willing to exert the effort to attack a person... And the cage is plenty safe even if they were so inclined :p

I actually don't volunteer there if you can believe it, I was part of a summer camp type program which is where I did most of the stuff... As for the swimming with the animals, I really didn't all that much... When I was in the Blue Horizons and Shamu tanks, the part that I was in was sectioned off, so there were no animals that could really get to me... I did help clean the stingray exhibit and spend some time in the shark tank, but the stingray's are de-barbed and the water's only a few feet deep, and the entire time I was in the shark exhibit I was in a shark cage...

Lol it's fine, I like talking about stuff like this... I've always wanted to be a marine biologist as well, which is why I'm so active at seaworld... The time I swam in the Blue Horizons tank I didn't have a wetsuit, and because I have literally no body fat for insulation I actually became hypothermic and ended up getting sick... I also swam in the back section of Shamu's tank, but I had a wetsuit that time so it wasn't as big of an issue... The water isn't the cleanest because the animals live in it, and because it's saltwater and most of the time you should have a wetsuit, you are ridiculously buoyant... I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the penguins, I pill'ed some of the fish and got to feed a bunch of them before doing some maintenance like the snow shoveling and cleaning of the rocks... I also got to go behind the scenes and see a lot of the machinery that run's that place, as well as the people... They have an entire aviary outside of the public eye, as well a separate penguin area, and a lot of separation tanks for sick or unfriendly animals... They also run animal rescue in the area so they rehabilitate a lot of wild animals, I personally sat in on a surgery they were doing on a bird, and a surgery they had to perform on a manatee that had gotten itself caught up in a fishing net... There's honestly too much that goes on there that I could talk about, and I already feel like I'm writing a paper so I'll stop talking now, but if you ever want to know anything, I'd be happy to help if I can :3

I've done it quite a few times actually... I've ridden two at once, held onto the dorsal, rode on it's belly while it swam upside down... I spend a lot of time at seaworld over the summer and participate in a lot of their programs, so I've done things ranging from swimming in show tanks, to shoveling snow in the penguin exhibits, to sitting in on rescue operations...
