I'll see by the end of this semester as to what I want to do in the future. Maybe a curator isn't what I want to be. My initial plan was to switch into Studio Arts after my first year, but I think I'll save drawing and painting as something recreational instead of for marks. It'll help to keep me sane during the years to come.

I've always wanted a solarium-- I could see myself now, in a house coat and slippers, sipping on some tea and sitting on a cushioned bench, looking out the backyard. Also, a room where bookshelves are built into the walls and comfy armchairs and lamps. This is perhaps the most important room.

I know I felt somewhat offended when being critiqued by teachers and other students. It's not pretty, and I even had to do it on my best friend, but we've gotten used to it that we got over the initial shock of being hurt and took that advice and worked with it. Everyone is different, some can take the critiques in stride while others are pushed around by them. Slowly, you start to build an immunity to the harshness and you can pick out the advice and concerns from them.

They are hard to come by, and it's not because the job is demanding, but museum visits aren't like what they used to be. That's why I'd like to go as far as I can with my education. If you pursue a career as a photojournalist, I hope to see your works on newsstand shelves as well as in stores.

Well... there you go. xD

My best friend and I plan to own a house together. I don't know if she's serious about the matter, but we have discussed plenty of details as to what we would like in our home. A tea room was on the list, as well as a solarium, and of course, we did mention a few trap doors.

I try my best to point out both good and work-in progress points; I don't want to say change this or that for a 'just cause' reason, as I try to view the work as someone who hasn't studied art as well as one who has. But I can't help but feel bad at times when I seem too harsh.

That's the plan; I would like to get my master's degree and perhaps even a doctoral degree. I'm not entirely sure what I want to become in the future, but ideas of a curator or an archiver or scholar come to mind.

I was told that it's best to register for the full year, but I don't see any harm in choosing classes per semester-- it worked out fine for me while in college. But there's a good advantage to that as well; there are times when you want a specific class or classes that are pending and can only show up after you've completed one semester.

Usually I like things to match, but the idea of having all the rooms, or most of them, in different styles is a challenge I'd like to take on. Maybe the bedrooms will be untouched. xD

That's the thing I don't like about critiques-- I try to be as nice as I can when looking at a work, and I take into consideration the time and effort that went into it, but there are times, not in your case, that I was too harsh and that left me with a few choice words that bit me quite hard.

I know for a fact that England has college and then university. My best friend and I were planning to study at the Royal Academy in the near future. She hasn't gotten into any of her choice programs, so I'm going to wait for her until she gets her bachelor's degree.

I had only thought they would send me a notification because that's what happened in college; we got a time and date for when our registration took place, and during that time frame, we had to complete our registration for the upcoming semester. It's best to register for the full year, as I've been told, as you won't get stuck with the boring classes. Register for as many courses as you can, and before the semester starts, drop those you don't want-- all before the deadline to drop courses. I was so lucky I had met some friends today; I was thinking I wouldn't see a familiar face, but I did.

When I become rich, I'll create my dream home, and I'll do just what you said; dedicate each room to a different style, and if I will be so bold, to the time period as well.

Trial and error and practice makes perfect are your best bets. I try not to critique art too much, especially if it's a friends because I don't want them to think I'm being mean. Even after I explain to them that was how I was taught, I fear they won't believe me and start throwing accusations at me.

I got a second, third and fourth opinion, and even though I've been quite happy without it, I'm inclined to re-activate my account. I may not do it tonight, but perhaps sometime this month.

I know-- a full year. I don't think I could live like that. I mean, sending emails and talking on MSN are one thing, and it's enough to get by, if only slightly, but I can't go a full year without seeing them. I'd die. I didin't know that-- I believe elsewhere in Canada, there's no need for college, as some provinces have up until Grade 12 and then it's off the university. I think Quebec is the only province that has college after high school... I could be wrong though.

That seems to be the case; I guess that's another thing they mean by university-- you are alone, and even registration isn't going to be advertised, so it's up to the student to make sure they get everything done before the semester starts. I just finished registering for my winter courses. What I should have done was register for the entire year, but I didn't know that at the time. I'm glad I have friends who are in their second years, so I'll be asking them. Knowing me, I'll get lost trying to find the academic adviser's office.

I actually want a Victorian home-- and if I can, maintain the design that's on the outside as well as on the inside. If anything, I can add in some Moroccan influences here and there if I want a different look on the inside. Maybe not a complete dar, but perhaps a part of the kitchen will be in tiles. Tiles look good in kitchens-- especially for a back-splash.

Try it and see if it works. As for the photo-- if you're going for a monotone look with only one element in the picture that has colour, don't colour the vines. Right now, the image has a nice balance about it, but if you colour the vines, then I would just leave the entire image in colour. Also, the background could be a bit less hazy; I know the rose is the focal point of the image, but it's almost blinding to the fact that I have to turn away because the flower is so 'in-your-face', and flowers aren't meant to do that. Unless the image was already like that, and you just added the grey and the red to the flower, then disregard my last comment. I apologize if I seem too brash, but I've been taught to critique people's work since high school, and it's a habit that's stayed with me since.

I think I will re-activate my account-- it would be a good way to stay in contact with friends in case if I choose not to log onto Gaia anymore.

It's okay. I'm not familiar with the States education system... so, I think we're even. xD Next semester, I hope I can get better time slots for my classes so I can see my friends... if anything, we'll have the entire summer to see each other. But waiting that long would just depress me.

But they're so beautiful-- another problem would be, aside from the time and cost, is how to make it flow nicely with the rest of the house decor; I wouldn't want one room decked out in tiles while the rest of the house was in the style of a conventional interior design. I would like to have a spiral staircase-- my best friend has one in her home, but it's carpeted-- and that's something I do not want. There was a time where I almost slipped. I wouldn't slide down a banister either-- even if it was a regular staircase.

I know!! I hate it!! But it's my fault for registering so late. I was expecting the university to send emails stating that registration had started, but turns out they don't inform their students. I think the day to start is when you receiver your letter of acceptance, and the time registration ends is sometime in December. I'm so lost and confused... I hope this semester will be a good one.

Oh, you finished it? I would like to see. Ah, yes, Photobucket does that sometimes. I'm sure you could do it via Gaia.

I have a question: I deactivated my Facebook account, and it's been two years since I last logged on-- should I reactivate it-- just so that I can keep in contact with a few friends in real life and from Gaia?

It does. Last year, I hardly had any contact with my friends because of our different schedules, and now that two of three of us are in school, it'll be harder to meet up and do stuff. So far, Halloween is the only weekend we can seem to meet up, and after that, everything is up in the air. Back in college, we had six weeks of winter vacation, but with university, those six weeks are going to be only two. Major change.

It is! All those details with the tiles and the placing must have taken forever. I don't think I could possibly do that, and hiring someone or several people to do it would be costly. I do like how spiral staircases look like, but I tend to get dizzy when going round and round-- and it doesn't matter if I'm going vertically, I'll get nauseous. But they are dangerous-- all those cartoons where characters can be found sliding down the banister... it doesn't work so well in real life. emo

Well, today was my first day, and it was long. I was stupid in choosing all afternoon and evening classes; I had just wanted to get my classes before term started, but that's what I get for waiting so long to register. Next semester, I'll make sure to have earlier classes-- Mondays are the worst: I finish at 10:00PM. gonk

This year, my friends and I are going to be separated... we haven't been separated since high school! crying Yeah, those really big ones, I believe it's 35x26inches, and the strap didn't help much either. Public buses and underground metros... both get packed, especially since it's impossible to find parking downtown, people will take public transportation and both of them get really full.

A dar, from what I saw on the show, is something like the middle of the house. It's something like a living room in Western culture; we can sit down there and eat dinner, or just relax. From what I saw on the program, all the rooms are connected to the dar, or can be seen from all rooms as each room had some sort of porthole in the wall. This is what one of many dars look like.

I know! I was in a program that required a lot of art materials as well as a giant portfolio to lug around-- I was fourtunate to have my best friend with me, as she was able to help me with my stuff. During our last semester together, we had most of our classes together, and we would walk home together as well. She had been working on a large sculpture project and I helped her carry them to her home. But not everyone has their friends with them to help carry things or open doors.

Buses are evil here, especially on busy routes; whenever the bus begins to get full, the bus driver has to tell everyone to move to the back since as there's only so much room in the front. During winter and the school year is the worst because of pouffy coats and schoolbags. There are some kids who don't take off their bags while people are trying to pass, and that causes a traffic jam inside the bus. The walkway is narrow and it's hard for people to pass by when there are obstacles in the way. Especially for people who have to bring their children with them in their carriages.

I understand on the seat issue; the front seats are reserved for older people, laden with groceries, pregnant women... basically anyone that can't move too far down the walkway and is convenient for them. There were times during winter were it go too cold to walk home, so I was forced to take the bus. Unfourtunately, all those times I had to take the bus, it was packed due to rush hours. I remember I had my giant portfolio with me, and it felt like I had a body stashed in there. gonk

It's okay, I'll rant with you.

On a side note, I'm watching House Hunters: International, and one family is looking at a house in Morocco-- they're so beautiful with lovely traditional features... all the details are amazing. I would love to have a house resemble a dar.

It is infuriating, and whether you wear something nice or not, it's still wrong. What if you caught a cold on the way home? That person wouldn't buy you Tylenol or cough syrup or anything to help you out. It's a shame these things happen, but they do. Manners... I think they no longer exist. I did a study while at college, just for myself, and I noticed that 1 out of 10 students will hold the door for someone. It doesn't matter if they have a heavy school bag, or are carrying a large project, or pushing a cart with a television on it, only one person will hold the door.

Urgh... that's happened to me too. I think some of them do it on purpose; they see people walking and they know water has accumulated near the sidewalks, and purposely drive close to the puddle to drench pedestrians. It's worse when a bus does it, as they're so big and the wheels are fat and sure to wet anyone who's on the sidewalks.

I hope we get a downpour. The last time we had a heat wave like this was in June. Friday was the day it rained and I danced outside with my dog.

Huzzah! The day has been saved!

It was supposed to rain yesterday-- with all the storms coming up from down south and all, but not even one drop fell from the sky on Thursday. And they said 70% chance of rain too! It's supposed to rain on the weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you! You're a life saver. *hops into ice box and closes the lid* Ahh~! Much better.
