One of the aspects of accepting yourself as you are, and abandoning future plans that one truly embraces the Buddha... someday I will do this, but I am too much of a young man full of p*** and vinegar to give up yet lol... I didn't understand what they could accomplish by abandoning all hopes, but I later understood that was the point. When you leave the cares of the world, it doesn't matter what troubles it because it no longer applies to you.
To understand Buddha takes time and experience... the only thing you can gain from reading is to find the rules and be entertained by the stories... other than that, the point of Buddhism is to live and experience as the Prince did; he wasn't divinely born, he BECAME Buddha (name meaning "the enlightened one" wink through his travels and learning things the hard way...
