You do not have a certain amount of time, No.
To edit your Profile, click on your avatar, then click on the top right corner of the page where it says 'My Profile.'
From there, you click something at the very top of the screen that says 'Edit my Profile'.
A toolbar will pop up on your screen.

To edit what you want to like, write in your profile, you click on your avatar.
From there, you find the little icon that has a gear on it.
It's a drop down menu. You can use the little arrow beside it to click on what sections you want to type in.
Like your 'About Me' info.
