I actually own Mayhem's first album, 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'. I actually wrote a bit of a Black Metal riff that was inspired by Mayhem.
For more Black Metal: Gorgoroth, Burzum, Dark Funeral, (early) Behemoth, Darkthrone, Rotting Christ, Marduk, etc. etc..
I enjoy Melodic Death Metal and Progressive (technical) Death Metal like: The Faceless, Death (Human - Sound of Perseverance era), Hypocrisy,
In Flames, Insomnium, Divine Souls, Dissection (later material), Wintersun, and the list can go on.

I'm a bigger fan of their first album. It was WAY heavier than their current material.
I'm a fairly big BM and DM fan. From Rotting Christ and Darkthrone to (early) In Flames and Hypocrisy.
