From what I have gathered of the manuscripts (dead sea scrolls) they have found dating back to before Jesus was born the Bible the Bible is remarkably preserved.
Among the texts they found was Isaiah with his messianic prophecies a text unchanged for thousands of years. ^^ Not to mention the meticulous copying of the scribes who would burn a copy of text they had finished copying if it did not have the exact number of words as the text they copied from or if a sentence ended in a different word than the text they copied from. They treated it as if it was the word of God - and acted carefully not to add or remove anything to the text .
The New Testament has been preserved in more manuscripts than any other ancient work, having over 5,800 complete or fragmented Greek manuscripts, 10,000 Latin manuscripts and 9,300 manuscripts in various other ancient languages including Syriac, Slavic, Gothic, Ethiopic, Coptic and Armenian. Any kind of tampering with the text would be very obvious as it would have created a new line of manuscripts with notable differences than the other lines of copies, but the text remains the same in whatever language it was translated into. The internal consistency of the New Testament documents is about 99.5% when comparing the various manuscripts. The kind of way that the New Testament came to us makes it pretty hard for anyone to tamper with the text to suit their own purposes. What it mean with that is that it was translated into various languages at various times using different manuscripts. The same manuscript that the Ethiopic church used was not available to for example the Armenian church meaning that the text they copied from that was a text that was at another point earlier accurately translated from the same (original) source.
