Galaxy Macau, Broadway get 100 new tables

Galaxy Macau Casino Resort Phase 2 and Casino Hotel Broadway Macau, run by the Galaxy Entertainment Group, will receive a total of 100 new bulk game tables from the Macau government, Economy and Finance Minister Lionel Leung Baitack said.

Mr Leong said Studio City Casino Resort, which will open next Tuesday at Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, another Kotai property, will bring 250 new game tables to the market. A property publicist confirmed the news in a statement Tuesday.

Leung told reporters on Tuesday that a total of 200 new market tables in Studio City could be operated from day one, with the rest available from January 1, 2016.

Leung said the reason for the assignment of tables to the stadium was because it had considerable non-season facilities and focused on popular players. Studio City does not include VIP gaming rooms, the official added.

He said the government was delighted to see the Galaxy Macau Phase 2 and Broadway properties working with local small and medium-sized enterprises. In particular, the latter includes several shops and restaurants run by Macau-based businesses and organizations.

As a result of non-game facilities and small business connections, local authorities have decided to grant the Galaxy Macau Phase 2 and 100 new market-based gaming tables on Broadway, 50 of which will be immediately available, Leong said. The remaining 50 will be available from Jan. 1, he added.

Galaxy Entertainment received 150 new market tables from the government when it opened the Galaxy Macau Phase 2 and Broadway. The company said in a previous announcement that there is room for 500 tables in the Galaxy Macau Phase 2.

A HK$5 billion ($645.2 million) Broadway Macao (formerly Grand Waldo) opened on May 27 after a major redevelopment. It was released on the same day as the neighboring HK$19.6 billion Galaxy Macau Phase 2.

Mr Leong reiterated that the government will determine table allocation for each new property after investigating the non-game components of the latest casino resort being developed by six Macau game concessions in Kotai and how each company works with local small businesses. 슬롯머신

He said the development of non-game attractions at the new casino resort would benefit the popular casino sector, and Macau's gaming industry would be less dependent on VIP players.

Official Macau government data released last week showed VIP total game revenue (GGR) across the Macau market fell 38.0% year-on-year to about $28.99 billion ($3.63 billion) during the third quarter of 2015. VIP sales accounted for 53.32% of casino GGR in the three months to September 30, down from 55.51% in the previous quarter and 56.45% in the same period last year.

However, Leung promised that local authorities would continue to support the city's table restriction policy. The limit aims to limit the growth of live dealer tables to a combined annual 3% by the end of 2022, based on 5,485 tables recorded at the end of the fourth quarter of 2012.

At Wynn Resorts' third-quarter earnings conference, which is developing a $4.1 billion Wynn Palace plan in Cotei, scheduled to open on March 25 next year, the company's chairman Steve Wynn called the Macau government's table allocation "an almost mysterious process" and "the most intuitive and irrational decision ever made."

Commenting on the gaming industry's October performance on Wednesday, Mr Leong noted that the year-on-year decline in the GGR was much smaller than the previous month. He highlighted the positive contribution to visitors' consumption during the Golden Week in China earlier this month.

But several brokerages said earlier this week that Macau's October gaming revenue could not sustain the seasonal rebound that emerged during the Golden Week.
