OH MY GOSH that picture/those trees and walkway is just so gorgeous! I can't stop staring at it and imaging how nice it must smell T^T

What kind of counselor, like a school one, or like a therapist type??
Congrats on that, sounds wonderful! You'll be so good at it, you are super easy to talk to!

Usually it's mainly clean up work! The routine is that we take the dogs from the two different kennel rooms, and transfer them to the back kennel cages for when people come in and want to look at the dogs, and after we get them all out we poo scoop, wash and dry the cages
(there are a few dogs/pups that uhhhh... like to 'paint' in their mess and makes it a nightmare to clean! LOL),
clean the bowls, refill their food+waters for when we get them back into the main kennel rooms(usually from 9am to 5pm they are open, weekdays and saturdays!
sundays they aren't open so we just transfer them quick, clean and get them back into their main places(smaller dogs just get transferred to diff cages within the smaller dog kennel room, for cleanup)

And then anytime theres enough of us ACTUAL workers to clean, there is usually time to walk a few of the dogs, or let them out into the caged areas to romp around!
Sucks sometimes though, because theres only one person on the actual staff(there's non payroll workers/volunteers and then staff, and then inbetweeners that have a set schedule, but also don't get pay, but get a little more respect from staff than the volunteers that come in sometimes-I'm an inbetweener)
that seems to do any 'grunt work' such as cleaning and interacting with the dogs. One of the staff disappears for hours, isn't good at training anyone and her sister is THE dog warden, so she gets away with anything and everything.
Then there's one that tries to put up a front, as if she is a hard worker... but I only see her doing the frivolous stuff. Like she loves the dogs and that's great but any pet owner knows that loving and taking CARE OF an animal can be two different things, and she also gets away with staying in the office the whole day unless something 'fun' pops up, like new puppies coming in, because she was friends with the main boss lady(who is not the same as the warden/some extra info- supposed to be 2-3 people 'working' each day but if either of the 'not great' staff are there, it can be as little as ONE person doing EVERYTHING and there as sometimes upwards of 50+ dogs to take care of on any given day/usually under 100+, but there have been times....)
before she even took over the shelter :/ so they have a lot of nepotism and playing-of-favorites!

UGH this turned out LONG, sorry to 'type' your ear off rofl

Sadly a lot of the pitbull mixes (some are fullbred, but they can't legally adopt out fullbred pits here so they relabel them as mixes and it works out) stay for long amounts of time, since the breed has such a bad rep and they make sure if someone is a renter instead of homeowner, that the landlord okays the adoption first, and that seems to deter people. They are literally all such sweeties though! Haven't been bit once, I really think it's my calling in life to deal with/calm down animals(
not to say there haven't been injuries on the job but that was from my own stupidity/forgetting their doors swing OUTWARD TOWARD MY FACE when taking the dogs out of cages/kennels and into new ones, or out for walks lmao... caught a door to the face a couple times now but it's never too bad)!

OOOOO internship sounds kinda fun, though!
Is it too nosy or personal to ask what you're working toward doing?
If so feel free to totally ignore that question and I'm so sorry T^T lol

Honestly I'm working toward getting my diploma finally, but it's boring(but free classes for it, so can't complain!) because I had to leave working at the dog shelter for it for a while and I just can't wait to get back to the puppies!!!
Even though the coworkers aren't always the best at..... well, working. The dogs always make it so worth it.
Other than that it's getting exciting around here now that the weather is finally breaking and getting warmer! There's always so much nature and wildlife activity when it gets warm lol

Oh, thank you! I'm glad the angry/aggressive valentine thing was obvious, it's definitely what I was going for! lol I have it saved in my outfits cause it makes me giggle to think of some cute lil anime girl being so angry!!!

But aw, I wish you the best of grades/the best year or semester ever!!! Is it a lot of struggle, or just.... a lot in general?
