For NaNoWriMo there is a pressure since you won't get the rewards and recognition if you don't do it in a month. For jobs, there's obvious reasons why it's not advisable to miss deadlines on that. razz Having a reputation for making deadlines does tend to get you more jobs too. Just speaking from experience.

It really annoys me when that happens. I'm fine if they tell me they're going to be busy so they have to take a break or something but when they just up and vanish it really frustrates me. -_-

Sounds like those characters need a divorce. lol Honestly, if the pairing doesn't work there's no point in trying to force it. The drama of them drifting apart could be quite interesting and you could always introduce new prospective lovers who might be better suited and reenergise the RP. Sometimes characters just don't work together. The worst mistake a writer can do is try to force it anyway.

I used to write short stories a lot. I started getting into novels because I started participating in NaNoWriMo. Like a lot of things, I find deadlines are really good at motivating me. Working professionally, I mostly write for games and stuff. I do want to actually publish novels but at the moment I just find I don't have the time between my different jobs to work on it to a standard I think it's worth it.

I've never dropped but I've people on occasion tell me they have to drop out. It's nice when they do that, to be honest, instead of just vanishing on me.

That sounds like it was an unequal partnership which is the kiss of death of 1x1 RPs. With planning, it's the same thing. Both have to contribute or it's just no fun. I find the stronger handles you have on your characters the easier it is to contribute. So I'm really happy when it's genuine collaboration rather than almost like one is running the game and the other is just playing along.

I know that feeling too. I don't let it get to me so often now although that might be because I write for a living now too. For me, RP is really just a way to write for pleasure rather than for money so I find it comes easily for me.

That is definitely one I find hard too. I'm not the one who drops it but for some RPs I understand why some people decide to stop since it feels like it's just going nowhere. I love to plan with people I'm RPing with. For some, I even have a whole timeline of events we've put together that we're notwhere near to getting to in RP time. It gives a nice focus, I think. smile

I'm not sure if we have enough to go on or not. I've got a decent idea of how I want my character to talk and act. It's more just like setting and stuff.

I know we discussed they were on vacation in the middle of a tour. That sounds like a good way to get the characters spending time together before the action starts. Where do you think they would be vacationing?

Yeah. She has a good confident look to her. Maybe all that boy chasing has kind of turned her into a bit of a domineering woman which has kind of soured her ability to find a deep relationship?

A profile sounds good. I'll work on putting one together for my character. They don't have to be too detailed. Primarily, so long as we have their name, some background about the band and how our characters are friends is probably we all we need to get a decent start. 3nodding

I like your girl. I think she looks cute but has a potential for being a bad girl. So you think she would be into the whole sexulisation of female musicians thing? My character isn't into that and gets a little upset that the girl she loves is doing stuff like that... while also actually quite enjoying the sexy pics of her. It still frustrates her that they're trying to get her to do the same thing.

I think my character is a little confused about her sexuality. She's only really loved your character but she's been into boys before. So she might be bi but since she's never really been with anyone she doesn't know for sure. 3nodding

I see her as someone who is friendly and outgoing but not really into the rockstar life. She loves music and spending time with the band, but increasing pressure from outside to fit into the persona as a rock chick is starting to get to her. Your character being a bad girl is probably into all that stuff. razz Additionally, she has the unrequited love she feels for your character which is making it all worse for her.

That's a bit of a start. If you think that sounds good then I'll go into more detail for her (Like giving her a name and background).
