I can pick up tons of tons of books like that or dig into my Grindhouse Horror movies~
Honestly its overdine and I like suspense and quick, and brutal deaths; not psychotic rampages with mutilation everywhere all the time~

Books by nature all have a moral buried somewhere in them and attempt to teach readers how to gro emotionally and mentally by exposing them to new ideas that spark creativity thoughts or ideas~
Whos that? They don't sound classical or contemporary~

Besides; it could help define what you think about~
Though not Christian; I like CS Lewis's work since he helped introduce religion into fictional literature~
