Yeah I've often found people's reactions to writing a bit odd sometimes. There are an awful lot of books. Someone has to write them. My friend once had someone look at something he was working on back in high school and make an assesment about it based on one single line of dialogue. But, I don' t worry too much about what other people thing most of the time. I'm sorry you don't have someone to share it with, though. Sometimes that can be really inspirational, and it's good to just be able to talk to someone about it. Believe, I know no-one else around us finds his and my converstaions all that interesting, but we sure enjoy it. At the very least you can find people online, but I understand that its not exactly the same. Writing web sites can be hit and miss, too. I'm not on one myself, but I think the best ones are the ones with strict policies regarding critiquing. Some people take the idea of critcism as an open invitation to bash you, and a good site has to regulate that well. Sadly, they can't do much for the egos you will run into. Some people thing writing should be only done one way. I'll admit I have my preferences, and there are some things that just work better than others, but I also understand that not all writing is meant to fit into categories that would be commercially acceptable. I may not like it, but that's no reason for me to be a jerk.
Well, I was long winded and tangental this time, wasn't I?

Oh well I'l write the ideas down, take a few notes or something. At least sometimes. I do still keep them in my head a lot, but it's the only thing I'm good at remembering. Probably because all my memore is taken up with story ideas. I'm just bad at actually finishing, and lately I find I can be more focused, so I don't wanna jump to the others quite as badly. I also found that setting short term goals helps keep me interested. I have a friend who writes, and when we're both actually doing it, we'll sort of do a share session once a week or so. Being that, I try to write at least enough to talk about at the end of the week. That's also why the episodic format can be fun.

But either way you gotta do what's most enjoyable to you. Writing is about having fun. At least, thats what I think.

Well that's how I used to be a long time ago. I meant more that I'm inconsistant as to how regularly I write. I still get a lot of ideas, but I'm better at pocketing them in my mind these days. So long as your having fun with the writing though. That's what counts.

Thanks. I do put in the work when I'm feeling it, but honestly I'm not that consistant. And though I do like the stories themselves, I'm not sure how they stack up structuraly. Been writing something in episodic format and having a friend read it, and that's been a good learning experience. Also, the notion of trying to revise down about 10% of the story so as to make sure you knock out the pointless bits seems to work really well.

I don't mind, but I don't know if it's a simple answer. For one, it's when I feel the best, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it's a great escape from reality, where I'm not so successful. I just like getting an idea of people, and what they're world is like, and seeing what they do with it. I guess watching my characters live is my favorite part. I could probably delve deeper, but I think I'll cap it at that.

Thanks for the compliment on the profile. Got the idea from a friend. And yeah, writing is great fun.
