Heh I did that kind of stuff too. I'd read in class when I should be doing work. That's why I didn't do well in honors trig. But then, I didn't even need to be taking that class at that point so I don't know why I did. The teacher was infuriating, too, since he would spend the entire period going over the homework. I was working a job by then, so I pretty much did as much of the work as I could do before class. And sometimes you just gotta read. It's good for a writer to read a lot, anyway. Aside from keeping immersed in writing as a whole, I find reading is almost like a recharge for my writing. If I haven't been able to write for a while, I'll read a book or two and be back at it. Still, if there's nothing you feel like reading, then you're kind of stuck. Although I'm not against re-reading something either.

From me that can be a very long winded answer, becuase I never feel I describe it quite right. It's hard to say, because I do read a lot of brain candy thriller type stuff, with some fantasy and sci fi in there. And though I don't like horror movies too much, I do read a surprising amount of horror. Not really that much, because I don't read as often as I'd like to. In my stories, there's usually some type of circumstance or power that the main characters have, and there's usually a some violence. I do many conflicts, but the main aspect of my stories all seem to revolve around violent conflict. Can't get away from it, I think it's just what I'm best at doing. The meat for me is how my characters deal with it. Different people have different reactions, and as I've said, I just like to watch my characters do things. Also, to be honest, I don't really know what categories what I like to read or write would fall into. I'm very mood based when it comes to both of them. So even if I would like something, I won't if I'm not in the mood. Well, I don't think any of that is a definative answer. I guess it just comes down to specifics and details. Some appeal to me, and some don't. I'm not the type of person to label something bad just because it doesn't appeal to me, though. Oh, and I also like writing various forms of relationships. I seem to have a lot of fun with strong brother/sister relationships. Lately, anyway.

Sorry, I don't think it was up my alley, but please don't take that personally. I do like the flow between the characters. Too many stories lack good character interaction, so liked that you had the people in the story actually communicate. Again, please don't think I'm knocking you. I'm not trying to put you down or anything, it just wasn't to my taste is all.
