I really like that actually! Especially half way through, there's a brief part that makes me think of old side scrolling dark levels to wander around in, kind of Castlevania sort of thing. Loved Simons Quest soundtrack! There's so much you can do with those noises, it's fun to play around with.
I found a few things like this a long ago, I like the idea of mixing the guitar in; http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hO-feDGdcF0

I'm glad it can be heard alright! I have a bunch of old game vsts too, there's one I had which is a 'tv game' collection of sounds, and even though I don't recognise many, I loved using them in tracks. Then there's the really unmistakable noises like the Mario coin. When I first got the tv games one, I tested some in that; http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GCz1KRJRypM I really like seeing actual fan creations of music using the actual full sets of sound effects from certain games, it's a fun way to tribute them!
I love a lot of game midis. I'd uninstall games I was done with but hoard away the music files. Plus assigning instruments to them just to hear what it'd sound like is great! Game music is actually why I was getting back into making it, I had an old game project I was doing a few years ago, though I rebooted it to follow my main stories, the music for certain levels, sound effects, plus some sprite work and speech scripts were all what I started messing with. Only thing is I need to start all over again because it seems I'm not getting that computer back at all. Hoping I can get back into making things on the laptop!

Have you got beatcraft too? Same company as mixcraft, its really handy but I wish it did midis.
I love the simplicity to mixcraft, and I've looked into some others too...Darkwave studio has a really interesting layout, but I still prefer Mixcraft. It was really easy to understand, and really great lil programme. I still had 5 too but really wanted to upgrade sometime because I found a glitch in it which would crash it sometimes, and if the project I was working on had a save file or recovered save, THAT would crash too whenever I tried opening it! So I just went into besuuupercareful mode, making lots and lots of spare saves in case I would encounter that glitch. The ability to reverse... that's late, but better than never! I noticed it too though. I'd just use audacity to reverse bits and import them back in. Not sure if you're into sorta chiptuney sounds, but I love this; http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-SanJose/8700/P/GsorigE.htm
I remember downloading some other music making programmes and being floored too because of so much to learn and really confusing layouts. Maybe some could be used in conjunction if they have any appealing features my main choice doesn't. Theres a voice changing programme called morphvox I liked, you can create your own morph settings and it was fun using it to mess with music files too.
