I could have died today

I woke this morning
To the still morning air
And found a spider

I walked to school
As I always did
A car zoomed passed me
And barely missed.
It had sped up too fast
To beat the red.

I bought some food

Had I remembered my loaf,
I might have been dead.

And so the difference between
Being dead or alive
