Who Are You
This is, of course, a fan's profile of Pete Townshend, the guitarist, and principle songwriter, for the illustrious British (and my all-time favorite) band, The Who.
Growing up in London, young Pete started playing guitar when his grandmother gave him his first guitar, which his mother called, 'A cheap Spanish thing'. The first band he would play in would be called The Confederates, which he played in with fellow art college classmate, and future Who band-mate, John Entwistle.
Eventually, he would join The Detours, at the request of John, and that's where he met Roger Daltrey. It wouldn't be until the band renamed themselves The Who (the second time around) that the band's then-current drummer, Doug Sandom would leave, and Keith Moon would take his place.
And the rest, as they say, is history...
