I just got back from my first day at my new job. I'm working in the packing department of a printing company. Basically, I get the personalized Christmas cards that people order, and I go through them to make sure that there aren't any smudges or defects on them. I also make sure that the correct fonts/colors/text are on the cards. I count them, put them into small boxes. Then, I put all of the small boxes from an order into a bigger box, and I get the tape gun, and seal the thing up with the invoice slip. That's pretty much what I did all day today. It's not exciting by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a pretty good way to make money. I get to sit at a desk, so that's definitely a plus for my feet. Also don't have to worry about going home smelling really funky from working with food. rofl

That sounds really interesting with your research. I hope that you do get to explore those other archives. I want to read your thesis after you finish writing it. (Yes, I know exactly how long it will be, but it sounds interesting.) wink

Sleep well, and I'll talk to you tomorrow! heart

But even if you're perfect, you could always be hit with that line, "You do have enough experience teaching community college." xp Nevermind me. I'm still just a bit bitter that I keep being rejected for professional/semi-professional/skilled/semi-skilled job because I don't have enough experience. But, I hope that they do give you a chance and let you do the community college thing. You already have some good experience working in the library and archives, so maybe that will help. I don't have any good experience to offer outside of the realm of education.

That sounds great! I know you'll do a great job for them. I've seen your work. wink I actually think I went to an Alpha Delta Kappa meeting or two when I was back at Judson. It was a yearly thing where we got to meet and talk with the older members.

Btw, have you decided what you are going to do about next semester?

It's only through Christmas, but at least I will be able to make some money to pay off student loans for a couple months. It's a job in the packing department of the printing company where I applied for the proofreading and invoicing positions. People with more experience got those jobs. xp But, at least I got something. I'm just kind of bummed that I didn't get a job that would help my resume. Working in packing doesn't exactly give you the experience employers want. But, at least it will help me pay off student loans.

Let me go back a bit. About three months after Gaia launched, they started asking for donations to keep the site up. People who donated to the site got Donation Letters that held one of two items that they could choose from. A few years later, the Donation Letters became known as Monthly Collectibles. It's still the same basic concept. They send you a letter that lets you choose one of two (or sometimes three) prizes in exchange for donating to the site. (This was before the cash shop opened btw.) They still have monthly collectibles. You can look in the monthly collectible museum to see what the gift items were for each month. I won a May 2005 letter, and it contains either a Guitar of Angellus or a Guitar of Demona. I haven't opened it yet, but I think I'm going to go with the Guitar of Angellus because one of its equips is a cool scarf. 3nodding

Actually, Ellineath is a runner up. She's supposed to get a May 2005 letter, but she hasn't gotten it yet for some odd reason. confused

I'm just glad that you're participating in the event and winning items. rofl

Do you have a charcoal sketchbook? It might match your avi better.

It's at 2:45. Now that I think about it, I need to put some clothes in the washer for tomorrow. I don't have much stuff clean that I could wear to an interview.

I hope it works into something permanent. It would be such an easy commute, and I love the laid back, friendly atmosphere.

It's only seasonal work, but the company is growing, so things could change, and they could keep me on. In any case, I would get much needed experience to put on my resume.

Thanks! heart It seems like a great place to work. I really need money to pay for my student loans, so it will be great getting to work in a place like that to get them paid. I was getting desperate and applying for minimum wage jobs. sweatdrop

I've never seen an event item inflate that much. rofl Want to know what crazy item I've seen inflate to the point of scary? The skinny jeans! They were a FREE item that you could get just for going to the MTV world and talking to the people. It was just an advertisement thing, and the pants don't even look that good in my opinion. I sold mine for about 20k when I was questing for my Coco, but they've inflated even more since then. Now they're going for 170k!!! @_@ I'm kind of wishing that I had held on to that item just so I could get rich as it inflates. Oh well. It's an ugly item anyway.

Oh! And I forgot to mention that I have a job interview tomorrow at the same place I interviewed last week. Last week I interviewed for a proofreading job, but tomorrow I'm interviewing as a job as an invoicer. Neither position has been filled yet, so I'm feeling hopeful that I will get one of them.

I just checked, and it's now worth 34k in the marketplace. eek Well, I guess I can kind of understand that. Heaven did have the two hardest levels in my opinion. Everyone seemed to have with the Chicken Yodel. Ironically, I made my highest score on that one: 98%

Here's a video of it:

I usually won with about 95% accuracy on each of the games. I guess I just have mad skills like that. rofl Actually, I think it's because of all my flute playing and stuff. I've learned to respond with pretty good timing to visual cues. Anyway, I ended up winning on all ten rounds on my main, my mule, my brother's account, and one of Malomy's mules. I just liked playing the games, and I played it over and over even after I had already won everything. The best two items I got from it were the Golden Sparkles and Heavenly Drapes. biggrin

Btw, I love your current avi! The saloon girl dress and the black milady skirt look great together! heart

Yay! heart Most of Gaia's event games are idiot proof and require no skill level whatsoever. The exception to that rule would be the Rejected Olympics (where you needed a fast computer and a fast mind to do the mini-games, and Promageddon (where you had to be able to play DDR with your fingers). I was epic at the Promageddon games though many people had trouble with them. They have some videos of it on YouTube if you want to look it up. biggrin

Nevermind about what I said yesterday. There was some confusion in Site Feedback. Apparently, you can fight the bosses and get the prizes as long as the boss is unlocked, and as long as the event hasn't ended.

I just found out that you can only win items on certain days. @_@ If you want this cape, you have to beat the first boss today, but don't worry. She's ranked Easy, so it shouldn't be hard. You can win the next item tomorrow. This whole prize thing is weird. xp
