I love to Roleplay and I have been doing so ever since I first discovered it at the age of 16. I went to college to study Performing Arts, but I also took up IT. Cut a long story short, we were encouraged to get on the internet and explore. I found MSN Groups and a place called The Lord's Tavern.
My first character creation was a girl named Alexa, who is still often used for my roleplays, though in different forms. If you ask a True Roleplayer how many characters they have they might not be able to give you a number, but they can probably list you most of their names, like they were old friends, and most of the details about them. To a real RPer or writer, characters are not just a thing they play with, but a person they create that evolves with time. Some, like the famous JK Rowling, see their people as living and breathing and it's less that they control the person and more that they watch events unravel around them. They only thing they do is choose the actualy thing and then document how their character reacts to it.
Some people think I'm a bit nuts, but then most of them still Roleplay with me because the characters I create are like living breathing people. I often don't know much about a character until I either write a post and suddenly I get pictures of them in my head, or I find a picture that inspires me to create someone. It's not often I use the same picture more than once for a character and if it is, it's because I can't find another that captures the facial expression or the essence of them.
