The Court of Pure Souls, after its devastation at the hands of Aizen, is rebuilding itself. In the new Gotei 6, Kuroi stands as the youngest captain in possibly soul society history. He commands squad 3 which is in control of the militia and extermination squads. He is very calm and polite spoken, but deep inside of him there is something far darker.

Kuroi and a powerful Vasto lorde, Shoushin, were fused at the soul during an atomic explosion. Kuroi had access to all the vasto lords powers, while the vasto lord could have access to kuroi's body. in terms of speed, kuroi is by far faster than any shinigami present. His reiatsu is also amazing thanks to the vasto lorde inside of him.
