Hello, this is your friend _heart_snatcher_ from neo. Ok. Here is a guide to newbies on gaia.
Its really short and simple, and youll probably want to find a better one. but hey whatever, first get your avatar customized with what you want on it. To get to your avatar editing thing (like neopets closet) go to the drop down menu "My gaia" and find "My Avatar" it is the first link under that menu. From there, just go through your inventory and pick hatever you want your person to wear. you should have a few free clothes right now. Click what you want, and youll want to sell the clothes you dont like. To sell stuff from your inventory, you can either go to the marketplace, or to the shops. it is faster in the shops, but you can only sell it back for half of what its worth. But since those are 2 gold items, it doesnt really matter. So go to the drop down menu called "Market" and then go to "shops" and when the page loads, youll see a place on the bottom that says "sell your items" Juct click on what to sell and go from there. On the left youll notice a little cat. His name is Rufus and you can talk to him. This is the shop keeper. Each shop has a different one. On the right you will see a blue ribbon thing with different stores. Each store sells different stuff and some are more expensive than others. Just kinda go through and browse the shops. But dont buy anything yet, seeing as you are poor. A good way to get gold is by doing daily freebies. These are quicker than on neo. On the navigation thing at the top, it will say, home, my gaia, world, and so on. go to each of these. not the drop downs, just click them. You should see a little red cart at the top that says daily chance. click it. it will give you random free stuff. sometimes (well most of the time) gold, or tokens, or clothes, or furniture to decorate your house with. but i find it best to just sell the items, seeing as most of the time they arent really anything special. And surfing around the site gets you gold. Commenting on profiles, or journals gets you gold, posting in the forums (like the boards) gets you gold, answering polls, voting in the arenas, just about anything. So earn some gold. gold is very important. And you can go to tektek.org to get a profile for your page. A premade layout website for gaia. (its hard to find people that make deccent layouts here, so this is an awesome site) and you can create your "dream avatar" which has every item that gaia has and you can try things on to see what you like. Save it and put it in your siggy to advertise it and hope people will donate. Unfortunately all the uber cool and awesome stuff is VERY expensive nd will take a lot of saving (like on neo) and just explore the site and you will figure things out.
