I mean critical thinking involves planning.. which involves taking into consideration certain possibilities.
If you just deny a possibility altogether then you aren't be critical of a situation.. you're just kind of being dumb.
So yeah even if you don't believe it at least acknowledge that it could be a possibility and have plans in place just in case but you by no means have to say you believe it.. just take precautions.
Like what's the possibility of the "Big One" (earthquake) hitting California while I am still alive? I could say it won't happen when I am alive but IF it does I should at least have preparations in my mind like "would I have enough water? Do I know where I would go or how to access that area?" even if I don't believe it will happen in my lifetime I SHOULD still realize the possibility (even if it is small).
Because that's just being critical.. I can't image being with someone who just ignores precautions because of either their arrogance, ignorance, both, or something completely different.

ESPECIALLY if you want kids.
