John's telepathy is capable of extraordinary psionic feats. It allows him to possess advanced cognitive and telepathic abilities that enable him to organize and construct his thoughts at accelerated rates, overtly or covertly manipulate the minds of others, resist mind probes, disable other forms of psychic manipulation, read or project thoughts over long distances, influence, control, mind switching, and communicate with the minds of others, project his mind into the astral plane, and generate telepathic force blasts that can stun or kill others. John is one of the few telepaths skilled enough to communicate with animals (animals with high intelligence, such as dolphins, dogs, and ravens). He can also telepathically take away or control people's natural bodily functions and senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, taste, or even super powers. He can scan entire towns with his mind, and leaf through the psyches of the inhabitants of a city to learn of their condition or intentions. He is powerful enough to telepathically "shout" to people over vast distances (i.e. China and he's in New York) without the aid of any type of power-enhancing apparatus. He can also probe individuals to check up on their status. He is able to quickly absorb and store information, as well as the ability to erect a shield that is used to protect one's mind. He has the ability to alter the minds of others. John is able to place massive amounts of information inside the mind of others to cause extreme mental pain on them. A side effect of his telepathy is that he is gifted with an eidetic memory. John is able, through telepathic therapy; grant others immunity to other mind control abilities, even if they're not psychic based. John can telepathically enhance the powers of other super-humans. In addition, John can also use his telepathy to project a focused beam of directed psionic energy called a "psycho-blast" that can incapacitate or kill a living being instantly. The psycho-blast is able to affect inorganic material as well as living targets. John also possesses a limited precognitive power that occasionally allows him to envision probable future events, or to see quick flashes of the immediate future. These visions are random and infrequent, and he has no control over them.

John's telekinetic strength and skill are both of an extremely high level, capable of grasping objects in Earth's orbit and manipulating hundreds of components in mid-air in complex patterns. John can use his telekinesis to enhance his speed, strength, and fighting skills to superhuman levels. He uses his telekinesis to often lift himself and others giving him the ability of levitation and flight. He also uses his telekinesis to create durable shields and energy blasts. He is also immune or at least highly resistant to other psionic-based powers. John is also immune to any physical and mental alteration by beings that can radically restructure reality, such as Proteus. He can, however, still be killed in more traditional manners, such as being stabbed or shot. He is also at least partially resistant to magical manipulation. Somehow these various immunities also affect his detectability from higher order technological equipment. Beside this immunity he is able to use his telekinesis to modify his own molecular structure to render himself invisible to at least the naked eye.

John has the mutant ability of psychometry. He is able to touch an object and instantly know a history of many events concerning the object, such as all of its previous owners, events that took place around the object, and the possible future of the object and its future owners.

Mind Possession
John has the ability to take possession of the minds of other people or animals. He projects a psionic energy surge that overwhelms the consciousness of another; this renders the victim unconscious while placing his own mind in command. It allows him to alter the victim's perceptions and memories, command people to fall asleep or divulge information, and operate their bodies as if they were an extension of his own. Formerly when John first took possession of someone, he could only move his subject's body awkwardly until he acclimated himself to his new host. If he remained in possession of a host for too long he would begin to think and act as his host would, and eventually his own personality would become subordinate to one identical to the host's. Although John can possess multiple subjects simultaneously, his control over his subjects is fragmented as he shifts his attention from one to another. John had also begun to develop that by possessing others remotely, he can mentally "see" through their eyes. He is also able to use his power to disrupt other psi-signatures, protecting him from all manner of psychic assault.

Vertigo Influence
John also possesses the ability to project waves of psionic energy into his environment which affects the nervous systems of other living beings, distorting their physical perceptions and sense of balance. This power induces effects ranging from mild disorientation and vertigo to unconsciousness. John can focus his power on one or more individuals, or project it outward from him in all directions, affecting everyone within his range of influence.
