Wood Brook

Clear as glass in shadows deep
By dark boughs, up the hill slope steep
Whispers the brook, soft and sweet
Music weaving past advancing night's air.
And while the deer cease to fleet
While slowing is birdsong's mellow care
The wood brook's melody, constant still
Resounds from swift ever-flowing rill
Threading under dark arbor thick
And swaying leaf in winter gales quick.

Prairie Wind

Ivory clouds with me glide
Through air cerulean I chide
Tones whispered to tall grasses' back.

Bend, oh dark blades! sway!
Till rises the sun on the last of days
When stopped is Evil's fearsome track.

Rose and gold and silver and lavender
And a flaming disk at the edge of the world
And dark silhouettes of elaborate branches
And indigo shadows reaching across tall yellow grass..
(By the way, that's NOT a poem. It's a list. If it was a poem, it would be a nightmare. My actual poems are nightmares enough.)
