Really now? What about Hurricane Katrina? Or the tsunami that hit Indonesia? Both of those happened within this decade, one of which hit our own country. And to your comparison, losing your job, and asking for money to help you, is a bit different. 1. You're not being handed millions upon millions of dollars. 2. You'll most likely pay them back eventually. 3. You weren't poor to begin with, and already have a good idea on how to get back on your feet.

It's a good thing we helped them, but we went over the top. Handing them tons of money won't solve s**t except making these people think that every time something bad happens, they'll get huge freaking handouts.
