Oh, I worded my last comment badly. I didn't mean one of those refrigerators that had a computer in it. Actually, I saw a pretty cool phone app that combined a place to make a grocery list with an inventory of what you already have in the fridge. That way, instead of having to open the fridge to see what you need from the store (or might want for a snack) all you have to do is open the phone app and read the list. The idea is that a person will buy less because they have something with them that tells them what they already have which in turn will prevent some food waste. Additionally, opening and closing the fridge less often will increase the fridge's efficiency and save energy. The amount of energy the app itself would expend during use would be negligible since it would only use energy when in use.
I love the idea of a crank weed-eater. Since it wouldn't need a cord or a bulky fuel tank it should be lighter and easier to manage. Very cool idea.

So many new things in green tech that I can't keep up with it all! There are some interesting things starting to happen with crowd sourcing- more so in other industries but I have seen a few interesting applications for organizing volunteers and microvolunteering that (although they haven't proven hugely successful) have potential. I have also been watching applications which do other things such as track the food you have in your refrigerator or operate home heating/ cooling systems remotely to help reduce waste and increase efficiency. What have you been up to?
