Nah, no problem. You sounded fine to me. Okay, I didn't claim that everything I say is factual, I said that when I mention research, I make sure that I've read it and understood it so that I don't make claims that turn out to be false. Basically I just meant that I don't talk out of my a**. xd

Oh you were referring to that particular statement? Oh, that was meant to be more of exaggerated satire biggrin Basically I was saying that there tend to be sexist men who misinterpret feminism as a threat to them. That's all. And that has been proven by psychological and sociological research. I don't make claims unless I know for sure they have been proven or have evidence to support them.

Just because I am passionate, does not mean I am not logical and objective. I always stick with the facts; research and everything. And actually, psychological research has shown that feminists tend to be more pro-men than non-feminists. So yes, I am angry. There is much to be angry about in our society, but that does not mean I am not being factual and objective.

Here is a little history for you: The stereotype of the man-hating feminist came out around the 90's as a backlash against feminism and women's rights. It was mainly men who viewed feminists as threatening to their power and privilege held in society and so to them, women who actually spoke up and voiced their anger at the system and status quo were viewed by these certain men as "man-haters". To them, if you questioned a man's power, that automatically meant you hated men. Rush Limbaugh is a conservative extreme-Christian television personality who coined the term "feminazi" and is extremely hateful of women in general unless you are a submissive attractive woman who does not question her place in society.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, the quotes in my profile are meant to reflect my standing as a feminist and that I'm proud to be one. I do believe in the equality of men and women and I hope to someday eliminate the oppression and marginalization of women entirely in society. smile
