We're the CBGB of "Gypsy Punk" as quoted by Village Voice
We were formed in 1999 the name taken from Nikolai Gogol and the word from brothel.
Reside in New York but Ukranian at heart
I arrived to the United States in 1990 after a long journey to escape the oppression in Boiarka, near Kiev.
You may know me as Alex from Everything is Illuminated
Side projects: Kolpakov Trio, J.U.F
The driving force of my music comes out of exploring my relationship with Gypsy culture.
Diversity means much to me. Most of the members of Gogol Bordello are immigrants ranging from Eastern Europe to Mexico.
