People tend to be mean to noobs, though some are decent and helpful. You can avoid this by searching the forums for information about what you're interested in, like say typing in "how to start a guild" before blurting out in gross naivete that you're going to start a guild in a section of the forum that isn't even suited for that kind of topic — educate yourself on how the site works, search the forums for information and learn how to use them, and ask people questions and they won't treat you like you're obnoxious and ignorant.
